IIRC in order for the feature to work it requires a bunch of pirated Nintendo code to inject so the mounted xci file is able to run.
Because of this, Atmosphere and other open source custom firmwares will never implement it. Nintendo would sue basically immediately
At this point I believe the lacking hardware and focus point is still holding it back, but at the same time, back before every household had a Desktop, there were games that compelled others to buy a Desktop just to play like Diablo II and World of Warcraft.

Pretty sure to get Gamecube and Wii games running on the Switch at full speed they'd have to either port the games from source, or they would have to do a weird combination of the two like they did with Super Mario 3D All Stars.

IIRC those leaks weren't from Nintendo, they were from the iQue company; a chinese entertainment company that Nintendo worked very closely with and they shared more with them than they likely feel they should have lol
