So I have a fake pair of Splatoon 3 Joy-cons :switch: from Amazon that I bought. I’m wondering if I send them to Nintendo for a free Joy-con repair for stick drift, will they confiscate them, send them back or least likely send a real pair of Splatoon 3 Joy-cons? What do you guys think?

I would assume they would just realise it's not their product, not subject to their repair policy, and send them back. Confiscating them would be theft – the controllers are your property. Them sending back a real pair could be a possibility if they don't realise and tend to just exchange them for new ones anyway, but I don't know what their work conditions or practices are, so no idea.

If it's worth the effort, you can try and send your fake ones to them and report back on how it went.
I don't think they are careless enough to send the official joy-cons, so they'll probably just return your fake ones.

That depends of how different they are, if are similar enough the will change for the ones they have available, when you send a joycon to ninti they DO NOT REPAIR THEM and send back, they send back any joycon they have on existence.

They need to just check insides. The hardware used in fake ones won't be the same.

The shells of the Joy-Cons are exactly the same.

but the guts could be different and if Ninty open the controllers before send you new ones they could reject the repair/exchange.
They look real if you look at them but if you touch and feel them they are lighter and the joysticks are stiffer. Most likely yes, they would probably reject them.

If you can notice the difference, then a person handling real Joy-Cons all day definitely will.

Joy Con have serial numbers.
They will know they are fake the moment they open the package.

They will send them back and might charge you the shipping costs.
They might also confiscate them because they are fake items infringing their copyright.
Like a fake Rolex can get confiscated at an authorized dealer.

They have serial numbers, and even without them, they probably handle so many Joycons a day, that they could easily spot a fake by just looking at them, and feeling them. Also, I reshelled by old Joycons from grey to neon blue and purple, they were official Joycon shells. I got Joycon drift, sent them my Joycons, they sent me back 2 grey Joycons. lol

I'm sure the employees that inspect and repair Joy-Con's on a daily basis will notice the difference in weight and resistance. They may not even open them to confirm, but if they did, the hardware differences would be obvious. I don't recommend spending your time and money sending them those off-brand Joy-Con's.

I'm not sure what they would do to them, but they won't repair them for protocol reasons.

Controllers back in the 90's were super cheap. We were flooded with off-brand stuff back then, and most of them worked just fine. These days, official controllers are around the price of a game and fewer off-brand options. So, free samples from this scenario are unlikely.

Is this a joke?
They obviously can tell. They open about a hundred original Nintendo Joy-Cons each day and it's super easy to determine whether it's original or not by looking at the PCB.
And they would clearly not fix your third party stuff. ;)

I want a handheld gaming system with a tablet sized screen, like a 8 or10" screen, with controllers that can detach like the Switch.

I don't see the buzz about a square screen personally. I think there will be a review on the site within a few weeks though if you are interested.

I've put down the money on the Odin 2 Mini since I just love that Vita form factor. Loved the power of the Odin 2 but the size always put me off, this one seems exactly what I've been wanting.

I don't care about the square screen it's just nice to hold something you don't have to stretch your arms a foots length

All these things expecting to be super huge is overrated just run a type c cable to your TV if you want a big display or in my case screen mirror it

On the go tho I meant, I use my 10" tablet and a Bluetooth controller for retro gaming while sitting on my porch or on long car rides sometimes. Easier on my eyes than the Switch screen.

My point is we already have enough shit with big displays having something pocketable with up to ps2 would be fine on the go
