How to correctly convert .cia 3DS game to .3ds?

hi, i have a .cia game that perfectly works on my 3DS XL. I want to play it on Citra too, so i converted it to .3ds with 3DS To CIA Converter.bat.
After that, i decrypted it with decrypt-all.cmd and then i trimmed it with NDSTokyoTrim311.exe, but the game doesn't start on Citra...the emulator crashes... is there a quite easy way to covnert a .cia to .3ds game?

From what I've seen, I think the .CIA is supposed to be decrypted before running the converter. Maybe try that? If the CIA is decrypted, maybe avoid that step altogether.

thanks, in the meanwhile i tried the .3ds version so i can avoid to convert the .cia file. I will try your tips with next game, many thanks!
