I have been enjoying my card for over 5 years now, with just one reinstall.
I don't remember what I did for that reinstall, or why it stopped working in the first place.

I read around on forums last night, and read things like gbarunner2, installing firmware directly on the DS Lite, and all manner of competing menu software.

After putting gbarunner2 on my sd card exactly as I should, the card booted to a black top screen and a gray bottom screen.
Removing both the gbarunner2 nds file and the gba bios bin file yielded no fix.

So not only am I jumping to get all those fancy features,
I can't use my card before getting the right thing on it.

I don't use my DS for multimedia or emulation, as I already have a 3ds and phone for that.
But I do want to play gba roms from slot 1.

This makes me wonder if your SD card is dying. Simply adding another homebrew file does not make it stop booting.

You can try formatting the SD card: link

Then you can reinstall YSMenu: link
See if it boots afterwards.
I tried backing up the sd card just in case, but it stopped halfway trough so Il copy just the games and saves then reinstall everything.
Thanks!

Some people liked to flash the DS Lite to remove the Health and Safety screen, but that's the only real purpose to flashing a DS Lite that I've ever heard of. Only the DSi has new, useful firmware, unless I missed something.

TWiLight Menu should run from a flashcart on a DS Lite, but as per link, you will need YSmenu first.
I see.

I want a handheld gaming system with a tablet sized screen, like a 8 or10" screen, with controllers that can detach like the Switch.

I don't see the buzz about a square screen personally. I think there will be a review on the site within a few weeks though if you are interested.

I've put down the money on the Odin 2 Mini since I just love that Vita form factor. Loved the power of the Odin 2 but the size always put me off, this one seems exactly what I've been wanting.

I don't care about the square screen it's just nice to hold something you don't have to stretch your arms a foots length

All these things expecting to be super huge is overrated just run a type c cable to your TV if you want a big display or in my case screen mirror it

On the go tho I meant, I use my 10" tablet and a Bluetooth controller for retro gaming while sitting on my porch or on long car rides sometimes. Easier on my eyes than the Switch screen.

My point is we already have enough shit with big displays having something pocketable with up to ps2 would be fine on the go

Ken unless the games are made for that screen size most suck on a screen that size... Having a square screen and being brighter and higher res helps but it's not a cure all, text is tiny bullets are tiny, your.... Well lol
