Adaptations so prepared may be transferred only with the authorization of the copyright owner.I don't see how you could buy something, modify it and sell it without permission with the way the law is written.They may not have envisioned it, but a law was passed that tried to prevent you copying something that you have fair use rights to copy then I do not think it's safe to assume that the legal system would think it's ok to download from an illegal site.Especially as this will likely have benefited the owner of the site & they tend to try to think of those as organised crime.</blockquote>
