You are right, for the base exploit itself you don't require a USB stick.
But for GoldHEN (at least as far as i know), you require a USB once, for the first time, to get the payload copied to the HDD.

Looking at the video, it actually exploits the system from cold boot without any user interaction - you just have to wait.
