I think if a thread has been dormant in a while, there should be an alert box above the reply area saying something like ‘This thread hasn't been active for X months/years...

Sorry, this isn't an answer to your question, but is there a reason you're not using nds-bootstrap/TWiLightMenu to run DS games on your console natively?
There's already a Backloggery entry, so I don't see why not…although I could see these get out of hand rather quickly.
Instead, I would suggest adding 3–5 custom fields where you can specify the name of the service yourself.
I honestly don't understand why you pass off anything that increases the time and effort to do something, no matter how small, as insignificant, but oh well.

I work as a system admin and this sounds terrible. It means, I'll have to dig into Windows Settings and set the default browser manually every time I set up a new company laptop – and I do that a lot. It will also prevent browsers from having a ‘Set as Default’ button pop up at first launch...
I would assume they would just realise it's not their product, not subject to their repair policy, and send them back. Confiscating them would be theft – the controllers are your property. Them sending back a real pair could be a possibility if they don't realise and tend to just exchange them...
