Which is both good and bad. Bad in that I wish Nintendo were willing to be more adventurous with their IP and make some more interesting characters or spice up the plot the way they used to do (especially with Paper Mario). But good in the sense that I can't say I was disappointed, because I got exactly what I expected.

It doesn't hold up to Detective Pikachu, although it has a higher rating on IMDB so I guess I'm in the minority for thinking that. Although, I can't understand why. Detective Pikachu actually did something unique and interesting with the plot, and that's part of why I loved it so much, and still do. The plot was also way more complex in general.

Now that they've done live action Pokemon and animated Mario, I wonder what's next. A Donkey Kong movie? Zelda? I'm hoping it's Zelda, but they probably wouldn't give it the budget it deserves. A Zelda movie deserves to be live action with CGI and an Avatar-level budget, in a dark setting like OoT/MM.

I just don't see any company willing to take the risk on a high budget Zelda movie when there has never been a Zelda movie before and it's not even proven that the IP would be a success as a movie. Although if done right, I am positive it could be.

It wouldn't really be possible to use cartoony 3D animation and have a dark setting/art style, it would need to be somewhat realistic looking, and that gets expensive. Going with cartoony 3D animation would be cheaper, but just wouldn't be as epic. A high budget Zelda movie could easily rival LotR and Avatar, and deserves to.

The animation style they used for Arcane could work for a grimdark Zelda animated project, and it's similar enough to the art style of Twilight Princess.

I personally loved the movie, though I did find it odd how the main conflict was over a Super Star of all things, when those aren't all that rare in the games - why not make it a Power Star or something? Also, Bowser didn't use his size-changing powers, even when he was getting overwhelmed, which was unfortunate.

He could've turned enormous through Kamek's magic, through eating meat, or through being in mortal danger, as shown in New Super Mario Bros. games, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and M&L: Bowser's Inside Story, so leaving it out entirely was a huge waste (pun intended).
