It's stellar on an emulator if you have a decent PC for it. You can upscale, play ultrawide, and naturally fix the wonky fps issues. I also felt that playing on 1.5x speed really helped with the pacing. Just a tad too slow for my liking. Sadly the drive I was playing on got corrupted after like 5 dungeons, so I'm yet to finish it myself.

@Veho, your dream was a reality for about 24 hours. Link's Awakening DX HD was a fan-made project that was completed and subsequently taken down, but it did feature the ability to play the game with the entire island in view.
As for Link's Awakening itself, it's a great Zelda entry. I can't vouch for the Switch version, but the GB original was my childhood. Highly recommended.
