Hello everyone,

My PS5 suddenly has no power somehow. Trying to dig into the motherboard if I can replace some components to save it.

- no beep/ light when pressing the PWR button
- the PSU seems fine, output 12 V as expected
- The Blu-ray disc not working either although it has 12 V going in
- 0 V to the power button pins while the PWR button is fine (short when pressed)
- fuse at F7003 may be broken, 5 V on one end only
- the orange rectangle at F7003 is 0V and doesn't short the GND
- at the F7002 region, no 3.3 V or 1.8 V, the "A2" regulator may be broken?
- similar to the same spot on the other side near the USB ports, no 3.3 V or 1.8 V
- all the caps with blue squares are not short to the ground
- the spots without labels are all 0 V
- the caps without brackets are short to the ground
- other parts (e.g. disc, PWR buttons, and USBs) are removed during the measurement
- since I don't have a bench power supply, I connect the PS5 PSU to measure the voltages

is there any other region I should check/ recheck?
any suggestions will be appreciated :)

Thanks

at the F7003 area, what the resistance to ground on pink and yellow rectangle ?

does it matter using which probe to measure which point?

with red lead at VΩ jack and black lead at COM on the multimeter,

red probe -> GND and black probe -> those test pts:
yellow area: 0 - 500Ω (the reading keeps moving around this range)
pink behaves weird, bouncing at any range (Ω, kΩ, MΩ)

red probe -> those test pts and black probe -> GND:
yellow part is ~0 Ω (stable at 0.2Ω)
pink part is unstable, from 5 MΩ drop to ~55 kΩ (-0.3MΩ/s) then increase slowly (+0.1 kΩ/s)

DOES not matter when measuring in resistance.
And clearly you have a short on the yellow area therefore fuse/F7003 blow as well.

Yea, I know since the different voltages on each end of the fuse, but what causes it, the IC chip or the caps near or other parts? It is quite difficult to track back without the schematic.

Hey, it looks like you've done quite an in-depth investigation. It's impressive! From your description, it seems like you've covered most of the critical areas. It's tough to pinpoint without physically examining it, but considering the extensive checks you've done, you might want to consider professional repair services or consulting with the PS5 community for more specific advice. Good luck with your repair efforts! 🛠️🎮

hello again,

It has been quite a long time but I replaced the F7003 fuse and got a bench PSU.

Although somehow I broke the F7002 fuse, I replaced that as well.

Now the board still has no beep/ light.

All F7001, F7002, and F7003 fuses have 5V at each end; 3.3V at pin1 of pwr button. The PSU draws 12V @ 0.250A

What else I can check further? I mainly just want the save data.

@Xdqwerty there is health behaviour you can add to your character, then to use a health bar is lil more complicated, google n watch a few tutorial video on it, be too hard to explain here.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the character has the health behavior
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I know you have to create a health and health max variable. Then there is a calculation you use in code to subtract width size of the health bar. Google few vids.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the "greenflatbar" is one of the preset health bars btw
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you can use any bar/sprite. It will just change the width. Ok good luck and have fun. I'm off to go shoot some pool at the bar. Talk to you later.
    +1
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, why does the health behavior exist if you can just use a variable?

and nope the number still doesnt change
