Look for sthetix on youtube and twitter. He can even sell you a premodded one. Otherwise, his youtube materials are really good. He is a nice guy too. www DOT sthetix DOT info
Well, whatever... you can also mix 3rd and 4th slot numbers by doing 3rd slot = Nintendos 3rd number * base + atmosphere number ( or by doing 3rd slot = atmosphere number * base + Nintendos 3rd number ). For example, with base = 100:
14.1.0 => 14.1.0 ( this one )
14.1.0.1 => 14.1.1 ( same...
Easy, use 4 numbers, put internal fixes in the 4th number slot, and the first 3 slots would be the supported nintendo firmware numbers.
14.1.0.0 ( this one )
14.1.0.1 ( same Horizon OS version support, but with more changes )
14.1.0.2 ( same Horizon OS version support, but with more changes )...
Something similar to this is already done for the cart reader firmware on mariko units on atmosphere to support returning from sleep on firmwares lower to that of the cart reader. The cart reader firmware is cached ( and I think it is also decrypted ) when not seen on a folder on the SD card. I...
Have a look at this and a few following posts, EmuTool may have some problems but you just need to understand the steps and make them with other tools:

Is this the gamecart reader firmware thing to have a proper return from sleep or some other, theme/aesthetics related stuff ?
EDIT: nevermind, I reread and saw the theme word, so that's fine then. Thank you.
It depends: are you going to migrate your current emunand + data partition to a resized layout ? are you starting anew ? are you using SXOS ? or hekate+atmosphere ?
If using hekate+atmosphere and starting anew or not minding to lose current status:
- enter hekate, go to tools, partition SD...
Smallest is 4GB, but that would be non practicable. I use 8GB emunands most of the times/switches ( yes, I have a few ). And then I mount XCI files, if you are going to install games from nsps or xcis,... maybe 16GB or something in between is a clever size.
sx gear boot.dat/.ini loads hekate and hekate configured to autoload atmosphere. I have several switches setup like this, fully atomatic and seamless. Again, no need to reference sx os boot.dat, which we do not need at all in this scheme.
I may try the new ram site, and download more RAM to my Switch. Not sure if ddr3 is the right ram
for it tho. Edit- no it uses floppy Ram, just like @AncientBoi
