"3 GOP candidates for West Virginia governor try to outdo each other on anti-LGBTQ issues"

"Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed" (Gen. 2:24, ESV). "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination" (Lev. 18:22, ESV). "Or do...

"3 GOP candidates for West Virginia governor try to outdo each other on anti-LGBTQ issues"

Would you explain what you mean by persecution? I've observed that it is common in these discussions to define anything less than affirmation as persecution. Jesus Christ did not affirm falsehoods nor sin. Homosexuality is a sin. Promiscuity is a sin. Deifying the limited knowledge and limited...

"3 GOP candidates for West Virginia governor try to outdo each other on anti-LGBTQ issues"

No. The term "Talmud" typically refers to the Babylonian Talmud. The Babylonian Talmud was influenced by Babylonian mysticism. It was developed during the Babylonian Exile. The greater than two genders concept would have been borrowed from the surrounding pagans worshipping the Baals, Asherah...

Alabama Supreme Court rules that IVF embryos may be considered unborn children

I concede. If it is presumed to be a false equivalency to apply definitions beyond the scope of this supreme court decision, then I cannot add anything further of value to the discussion.

Alabama Supreme Court rules that IVF embryos may be considered unborn children

I think we then need to define what is meant by human. The definition that I presumed for this discussion is that a human is an individual member of the Homo sapiens species. This definition also presumes an agreed upon methodology for discerning species. It seems that we entered into this...

Alabama Supreme Court rules that IVF embryos may be considered unborn children

How so? You stated that, although an embryo is a living organism, it is not a member of its species. Is this not what you intended to communicate here: You did equate gametes with organisms here: Please state the claim that I am refuting that you did not make.

Alabama Supreme Court rules that IVF embryos may be considered unborn children

What of organisms that do not have a fetus stage? Do they ever qualify as members of their species? It is not an opinion to erroneously equivocate gametes with embryos.

Alabama Supreme Court rules that IVF embryos may be considered unborn children

I assumed Ethan was referring to those rare cases where the fertilized egg is shed, hence miscarriage. Why else use the term embryo? Due to the phenomenon being uncommon, I think it would remain accurate to describe the miscarriage as spontaneous because menstruation typically ceases when the...

Alabama Supreme Court rules that IVF embryos may be considered unborn children

At which point of biological development would an organism qualify being a member of its species? This would be a spontaneous miscarriage... Why would legally classifying an embryo as an unborn child necessitate criminalizing spontaneous miscarriages? This is the same sort of hyperbole that I...

Alabama Supreme Court rules that IVF embryos may be considered unborn children

Under which Alabama statute would murder apply rather than involuntary manslaughter assuming liability of the loss of life is to be applied? Why would the following Alabama statute apply or not apply to the hypothetical scenario of embryos lost due to a power failure? Title 13A; Article 1...

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
    +1
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
