Hacking POLL: What Switch do you have?

Unpatched day 1 model Running latest firmware while I take a break from CFW, plan on getting back into things once my uncle who works at Nintendo brings me the Super Nintendo Switch he's been working on so I can move all my stuff over.

Hacking MaxConsole Posts photos of the new TX Switch modchip

Oh cool TX is finally doing what they used to do and actually making something unique via modchip. I'm curious what the difficulty of installation will be. Currently looks like it will be fairly easy. I just hope it lets you choose what it launches and won't force SX OS. We'll also have to see...

Hardware Is swapping the shell housing on a Nintendo Switch worth it?

I've done a shell swap. The hardest part will be removing the digitizer and screen without damaging them. The front housing is screwed into the center metal housing from behind the digitizer. You'll also want to get replacement adhesive for the digitizer as it's very hard to get it off cleanly...

Hacking Any way to remove the Sys CFW/Stock boot Hekate icons?

Well I gave the answer up above

Hacking Do you think that hackers will ever take full control of the switch?

Just wanted to point out that yes, this does make a major difference. Just look at 3DS. A9LH was later in the boot process, and thus some things like boot9 and boot11 were locked out by the time a9lh kicked in, making it so you couldn't dump them from a9lh. But with b9s, You can very easily dump...

Hacking ReiNX hasn't been updated yet what should I use in the interim

then you use these https://github.com/Joonie86/hekate/releases Or try one of the nightly ReiNX builds linked above, though stability may be questionable until it is a proper release

Hacking ReiNX hasn't been updated yet what should I use in the interim

It only fixes it because it removes everything the user previously had set up and installs fresh vanilla Atmosphere. Which usually there's a reason the user had those custom things set up to begin with. Does it work? Yes. But it kinda defeats the point of atmosphere being modular and...

Hacking ReiNX hasn't been updated yet what should I use in the interim

If you want to use hekate, these are the patches you want https://github.com/Joonie86/hekate/releases Even if it's "recommended", I'm not keen on telling users to change to something when in this instance it's completely unrelated to the problem. A lot of people want to run hekate for a...

Hacking Question I 'thought' I was in EmuMMC

So you partitioned the SD correctly, had hekate make the emuMMC (which takes several minutes), all without any errors?

Hacking ReiNX hasn't been updated yet what should I use in the interim

I wouldn't call using a different bootloader with definitively more features being "Frankenstein", especially given it's recommended by the devs for emuMMC creation. Also I haven't actually seen any problems similar to OP that were a result of the bootloader rather than the result of what's...

Hacking ReiNX hasn't been updated yet what should I use in the interim

Seems Rei has gone radio silent on twitter, so no one really knows if they are still working on it and if it will be updated anytime soon.

Hacking ReiNX hasn't been updated yet what should I use in the interim

The problem comes in when you start troubleshooting problems that have already been solved. Just extra steps to try to solve a problem that's not longer a problem. There are two methods to troubleshooting. The more difficult "remove all variables" approach, and the easier "try this one easy step...

Hacking ReiNX hasn't been updated yet what should I use in the interim

No real point in using fusee-primary, especially given the fact that hekate has more options and is even recommended by RS to do emuMMC setup. Also OP already can boot at this point, so redoing the SD card again would be pointless. Just needs to add patches and fix HB appstore. Oh, just noticed...

Hacking ReiNX hasn't been updated yet what should I use in the interim

For game backups you'll need Joonie86's patches. Atmosphere by default doesn't come with the proper patches to do piracy, but they can be added on. Just search Joonie86 hekate and you'll find it. As for the homebrew app store, be sure you update that to the latest version as well.

I would make a backup first, but then afterward just delete the entirety of the atmosphere and sept folders, then copy over the fresh ones from the zip

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
