Decided to join in and install a SanDisk SDINADF4 128G. Works great and glitches fast unlike the Toshiba chip it replaced.
Thankyou to all that have contributed guides and info on the various threads about emmc upgrades.
Should be seeing 10 to 20 ohms in resistance mode on the CPU capacitors where you have soldered, most meters will beep to indicate short in continuity mode.
Stray solder ball somewhere ? Maybe under the Apu.
Shorted capacitor due to heat from soldering possible, try removing the ones you soldered too and see if the short clears.
You can use the emummc, install files to nand to make use of the space.
If file based emummc delete it and make a new one, for partition based have to format the SD card with SD formatter and start again.
That is the correct colour flashing pattern. Another way to check is plug back into the pc and it wont appear as a usb drive or pop up a window anymore if firmware flash was successful unless you press and hold boot button while plugging in to bet back to bootloader mode.
I dont know or have a meter to measure this capacitor, any cap same size will work as its only smoothing/filtering to ground.
it will still work with this capacitor missing. best replaced if possible.
I bought a new soldering iron, have had the green 982 c210 iron for a while and have upgraded to the more powerful version that will also handle c245 tips. undecided if i keep both or deal with changing the handle for different tip types. Also some shiny new tweezers
Auction sites are going to be a mess of banned consoles many undisclosed as banned I'm sure. If ban waves happen be the innocent buyers that suffer the most so not a good look for Nintendo.
Testing another chip would be the most simple first step. The borads i just tested for resistances are from 2 different suppliers and only ordered in the last week or so and all have the same readings as yours.
Hairline crack in the copper inside the flex or bad connection/cracked solder could...
Those are the normal readings for these chips, just checked a couple from different suppliers.
A problem with the connections in the flex or the emmc module connectors on the chip could cause intermittent problems. A cracked solder joint or damage to the flex during shipping maybe.
Cracked...
If you haven't got a couple of hours to watch a few YouTube videos what's the point in modding you switch. Sounds like you won't have the time to even use it. Do you even have a couple of hours spare time to install the mod.?
If you can already solder them monkey see monkey do watching one 20...
