I did a search for "JVC Taiyo Yuden" and it comes up with this eBay listing. https://www.ebay.com/itm/184657552462 This seller seems to have some of these new old stock available. Yes, it's very likely these became CMC Pro.
Actually, I have one of the TDK by TY that I have found in the spindle had been burned by my friend back in 2001. So these 74min CD-Rs were within the timeline that they were made by Taiyo Yuden. The quality of 24(?) years old TY disc holds up pretty well, where all of the errors are at the end...
I just want to vent some frustration. I bought another USB/IDE CD-R burner(Mitsumi Model CR-4824TU) from eBay, which the seller claims to be working. So I try to burn a Sony CD-R with it. Well it got stuck at the 50% of the burn, thought it was image file or my computer needed a reboot. So I...
Ha! I miss seeing that little blue disk icon next to the title of the name of the program.
BTW, I found this interesting video on repairing a "bad laser" on a SCPH-1001 PSX. Basically, the plastic track for the laser pickup unit had worn down. So he use the info from this really old webpage to...
I will agree with you that any TDK 74min CD-R packaging label printed with 'Made in Japan' will be TY.
I will still go ahead and waste couple of the low quality CD-Rs with it. Again I only paid around $20 for it.
I have some good news and bad news on CDRid front for you. After trying in vain...
As I mention in the earlier post, these TDK Taiyo Yuden were in a spindle with no label. The pattern on the top of disc looks almost the same as the ones made by Raitek that you have showing in your guide.
I did find an eBay listing for the TDK with the spindle label with the text "CD-R 650MB...
Looks like this has the same ATIP data(a tiny different in the lead out) for the TDK 74min that I had posted earlier.
ATIP info from disk:
Indicated writing power: 4
Disk Is not unrestricted
Disk Is not erasable
Disk sub type: Medium Type A, high Beta category (A+) (3)
ATIP start of lead...
Never had a Wii, so I think I got the Sony Optiarc for my Xbox 360. Later switch over to the Lite-On iHAS124b for their burnermax compatibility. I remember flashing the firmware on my Xbox 360's DVD drive.
Good to know about the C2 errors. My friend found 4 imation 74min CD-Rs, 2 still in...
Ok, I found my box of blank disc media. Mainly different brands of BD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, and some CD-RW. But I did find a spindle of the Sony CD-R 700MB. So I don't have the original label on the spindle. By looking at the photos on multiple eBay listings, they were made all over the places...
I'm planning to. As I mention in my previous posts and what I want to do is:
I found 6 SATA disc burners in my storage boxes.
My current USB slim burner(GTA0N)'s slowest write speed 10x. Not planning to burn anymore PS1 game on it.
I want to burn these TDK at max speed of 8x.
I'm waiting for...
I was over at a friend's house and sitting on her home office desk was this spindle of CD-R, still with it's sun faded label showing that it was made in Taiwan. I got it for free from her as she totally forgotten why she kept it around.
3 of the discs was already burned. But the good news is...
You're right, it can burn at 10x. So I try burning 2 of same games at 10x that I had already burned at 24x with the drive.
Raycrisis(NTSC-U), both 10x and 24x seems to play the audio/video without any issue, but don't know if it's FMV or in game engine for the intro video.
Final Fantasy...
Ok, I found this thread after I followed a link to Alex's The Ultimate Guide To PSX CD-Rs on Reddit. I recently got a hold of a modchip on Taobao that allow my Japanese 5500 PS1 to be region free without the need of replacing the BIOS. Don't know if it's based on the PSNee V8 project or not...
sorry, beein trying to find this file that's been right in front of me for a month now, only to find broken links, and google to prove that it's completely worthless.
