Has RetroArch made individual emulators kind of obsolete?

I use Retroarch on Steam because it's very convenient. I sync saves on Steam Cloud and this way I can play on my PC and my Steam Deck without any hassle.

I prefer individual emulators instead of the very messy RetroArch GUI, I just can't stand it.

I like simple things and RetroArch is by no means newbie friendly nor simple at all, and I'm not speaking about adding BIOS'es and so on, but even the most simple configuration is a mess!
