Nintendo officially confirms Switch successor console, announces Nintendo Direct for next month

nitennzomg.png

While rumors had been floating about rampantly as to the future plans of Nintendo, the President of the company, Shuntaro Furukawa, made a brief statement confirming that Nintendo is indeed working on a successor to the Nintendo Switch. Capping off Nintendo's quarterly financial report was an announcement that the unveiling of Nintendo's follow-up to the Switch would happen before the end of this fiscal year (March 2025). In the same message, Furukawa also announced that a Nintendo Direct is on the way sometime in June--though it will focus solely on latter-half 2024 Nintendo Switch titles, and will not feature any information regarding the successor system.

Current rumor reports state that a "Nintendo Switch 2" system was scheduled to be released around holiday 2024, though the hardware was delayed internally, to make sure that the upcoming system had as many quality launch titles as possible. Bloomberg has reported that Nintendo has been supplied with a notable amount of 8-inch Foxconn LCD screens, implying that the new Nintendo hardware may be very similar to the Nintendo Switch.

Looking forward to grabbing a launch unit and not paying for any of the games, fuck Nintendo.
Wow, if you hate Nintendo so much, you should grab TEN launch units and never play them. Heck, get all your friends and family to buy launch units and never play them! That’ll really show Nintendo!

we already know the main nvidia chip and its specs. we already know the important parts, except for the gimmick/unique feature(s)

Well, we don't know the amount of ram or the games, but the amount of power is about 3 or 4 generational leap. so it's still behind one generation 😂

Super Nintendo Switch confirmed. Wonder how long it will take for Yuzu, I mean Suyu to emulate it too.

recall Breath of the Wild, how its over sized, yet empty game map still to this day runs like a sack of shit..... and thats nintendos very own first party so called quality launch title.
Fully agree with this part; BotW was utterly dreadful to play. A massive open-word...with bugger-all dev-placed map markers to highlight where to go or where to find important things like towns and shrines.

Game would've been so much better if the towers were marked on the map for you, and activating a tower marked all the important shit in its vicinity on the map (towns, shrines, Korok seeds, caves, quests, memory spots, etc.).

Oh, and if the "Divine Beasts" weren't absolute garbage dungeon replacements. Shrines aren't much better. The Master Sword Trials and that one island temporarily stripping you of everything you've collected was bullshit too.
Princess Zelda herself is a complete non-entity outside of optional (and easily missed) flashbacks and the ending cutscene, and even in the flashbacks she's a disobedient, stubborn child arguing with her father because she doesn't want to practice her divine protection magic, which ends up getting the kingdom destroyed. Great job, Princess; should have listened to and obeyed your kingly, wise father. She's also not even that pretty or attractive; the Zeldas in Spirit Tracks and A Link Between Worlds are cuter, and the one in Twilight Princess is more maturely appealing, and all three wear proper dresses the entire time instead of frickin' pants.
The Gerudo should've followed their Ocarina of Time counterparts by giving Link a medallion or similar that allows him free access to the settlement, instead of BotW always requiring the player to bloody crossdress whenever they want to enter this misandristic hellhole (the misandry is, rightfully, acknowledged in-game, along with how harmful it is to family and the economy - but nothing is actually done about it).

Limited stamina and extremely fragile weapons were garbage ideas too. Fuck them.
BotW, and TotK, were irredeemable garbage.

The Switch 2 will be dead on arrival if it doesn't have better hardware than the significantly larger consoles that need to be plugged in constantly to a power source and separate monitor. At least a billion terraflops should do it.

Hope this thing can play Switch 1 games at 1440p. While I highly doubt the old rumors that "Switch 2 will run BOTW at 4k 60fps!", I want to be able to play them at least at 1440p (which is my monitor's resolution). Heck, I'll be really happy if BOTW runs at 60fps period, because Nintendo doesn't have a history of making 30fps games run at 60fps.

Ideally, it'll get hacked quickly (though I doubt it) and we can overclock it to get 1440p60 in basically every game (since it'll almost certainly be underclocked to save battery). While current Switch can get 60fps in every game with OC, some games have the price of a drop in resolution.

And yet there's people paying full MSRP for Switches... No point telling them it's a bad investment as they get defensive.
Post automatically merged:

As we all know, Nintendo consoles from 16bit upwards go 'good' 'bad' 'good' 'bad' 'good' 'bad'.

SNES -> GameCube -> Wii -> WiiU -> Switch -> Switch 2.

I fully expect this to be another WiiU or DSi. Nobody will see any reason to buy a Switch 2 if it is simply an upgrade to the Switch.
After so long it better be a f*ckin' upgrade because the Switch is way too outdated.

Good, but better wait that they release new switch 2.5 with some fixes and upgrades
I would be surprised if they add more RAM and this RAM would be fully used by Switch2OS

I want to believe this is satire but it blends in too well.

I just read the actual wording again.... "We will have an announcement on the fiscal year".

Considering the fiscal year just started... Tiny teaser announcement in March 2025. Release date.... 2026.

Just sayin...
