Nintendo officially confirms Switch successor console, announces Nintendo Direct for next month

nitennzomg.png

While rumors had been floating about rampantly as to the future plans of Nintendo, the President of the company, Shuntaro Furukawa, made a brief statement confirming that Nintendo is indeed working on a successor to the Nintendo Switch. Capping off Nintendo's quarterly financial report was an announcement that the unveiling of Nintendo's follow-up to the Switch would happen before the end of this fiscal year (March 2025). In the same message, Furukawa also announced that a Nintendo Direct is on the way sometime in June--though it will focus solely on latter-half 2024 Nintendo Switch titles, and will not feature any information regarding the successor system.

Current rumor reports state that a "Nintendo Switch 2" system was scheduled to be released around holiday 2024, though the hardware was delayed internally, to make sure that the upcoming system had as many quality launch titles as possible. Bloomberg has reported that Nintendo has been supplied with a notable amount of 8-inch Foxconn LCD screens, implying that the new Nintendo hardware may be very similar to the Nintendo Switch.

I love how Nintendo seems to be on track for another poorly timed release date. Apparently they can't comprehend the importance of releasing before December. :rolleyes:

If the new Switch is enticing enough, it should sell nicely. It just won't sell as nicely as it could have if released earlier.
in the west, absolutely. but if i recall correctly, golden week (basically a national week's vacation over in japan) is in march. wouldn't surprise me if they release right before then. if not november for them christmas numbers, then right before golden week guarantees high japanese sales.

If there is a manufacturing delay (past December) Nintendo has no control of, I guess it could make sense to delay the release a little longer until Golden Week. If sales are unlikely to peak anywhere else in the world during Q1, they might as well take advantage of it.

Still, there is one thing that sticks out to me. From what information I can find, Nintendo sales consistently peak in Q4 in Europe, Japan, and the USA. Then again, Nintendo does have an odd habit of skipping Q1 in their charts...

Look, little fella, just because YOU don't understand a simple concept does not mean it makes no sense. Anyway, this is bothering you way too much. I've already explained myself & I owe you nothing more. Go get some fresh air, cope with my opinion, and move on. M'kay? Thanks. Buh-bye now.

Excited about the launch of Switch 2, they are talking about double the power, the question is whether it will be as successful as the Switch 1.

Nintendo: Sue which two

Jokes aside, initial launch units better have no joy-con drift down the road of being abused and used. (though highly likely it will anyways).

Jokes again, Please add a knife inside joycons cause these party games be making friends turn enemies :rofl2:

As we all know, Nintendo consoles from 16bit upwards go 'good' 'bad' 'good' 'bad' 'good' 'bad'.

SNES -> GameCube -> Wii -> WiiU -> Switch -> Switch 2.

I fully expect this to be another WiiU or DSi. Nobody will see any reason to buy a Switch 2 if it is simply an upgrade to the Switch.

I just hope that it'll be a lot less bland than what we have now. The 3DS had a lot more personality, despite being inferior in hardware.
Nowadays, the only console with any kind of personality is the Playdate... and not even 80k units of that have sold.

Actually... I will buy whatever crap Nintendo sells. Sorry.
