Hello Everyone!
I have a modified Nintendo Switch with HWFly with firmware version 17.0.0.

I would like to know how to proceed to update both the SysNAND and the EmuNAND without issues and the risk of a ban (especially for the SysNAND)

I already have a full backup of the NAND at version 17.

I'll be waiting for your help, thank you very much for any suggestions and assistance. :):):)

@linuxares Thanks for the link, I didn't know about it, very useful!! I take this opportunity to ask you for further information that I couldn't find: if I update the Sysnand from the Nintendo settings, so with the normal procedure, do I need to redo the Nand backup?

I'd keep the original, first-ever-made backup, just in case something else goes wrong in the future. But, make another NAND backup with the latest working firmware.
As for the reason, I'm not 100% sure but I wonder if restoring an older NAND backup and updating the firmware via Daybreak would be "clean" enough for Nintendo not to flag it for suspicious hacking activity and possibly ban your console afterwards. Therefore, restoring a newer backup should be far less of a problem as far as telemetry Nintendo collects goes.

For now, it doesn't hurt to make another backup, but do wait and see if someone else more knowledgeable replies, @Draxzelex perhaps?

The correct process for trying to avoid a ban are as follows:
  1. Make a clean NAND backup before doing any other hacks/CFW/homebrew using Hekate including boot0/boot1 and raw eMMC GPP (which will become a rawnand.bin)
  2. Perform any and all hacking offline with the Wi-Fi settings deleted and Airplane Mode to prevent accidental connection to Nintendo Hotspots (think 3DS Spotpass)
  3. Restore the clean NAND backup as well as boot0/boot1 prior to going online
  4. Make another NAND backup as well as boot0/boot1 at this point since your NAND has made permanent changes while connected to Nintendo's servers that are not present in your original NAND backup
  5. Repeat steps 2-4
Taken from this thread. If I got it right, you should make a NAND backup before you make any hacking activity and after any official online activity on it, which makes sense to me. Backup that you're restoring should the last one Nintendo "saw". Since you'll be using sysNAND for official stuff only and emuNAND for homebrew stuff only (with Internet access blocked and 90DNS / DNS MITM applied), I'd say that you don't need another backup unless you plan to "dirty" your sysNAND in one way or another.

@Blythe93 Thank you for the reply. Actually, the person who modded my console told me to update the sysnand fw with Daybreak to avoid burning fuses and have the possibility of future downgrades, but I'm not very trusting, to be honest...

Indeed, updating without burning fuses is a nice feature and the only downside is that your console won't be able to boot into OFW normally since fuse count mismatch will happen and prevent it from boot. Now that I think of, I remember reading that Daybreak updates the Switch firmware the same way the official tool does so I guess what I've said above should be clean enough (of course, unless Nintendo collected some recent logs which are missing in your restored backup).

    heres ps4/5
emulation (it is far from playing actual games yet but its something) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qe71pCjC9U
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I thought PS4/5 and Xbox One emulation would be kind of easy since they basically just a PC
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
    they sorta are a pc
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
but its a custom os for both of them
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Damn Frontier is offering 5Gbps now lol

I honestly can't recommend any of the big 3 this years I'd say buy a rog ally z1 if we're being honest
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Honestly after the PS3 and 360 I just went full PC
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Every games basically cross platform they only have about 6 titles making it worth the $600 price tag
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
nintendo needs to up their game soon
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah even bt support for Xbox one controllers are just as easy as pairing
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
considering the steamdeck can emulate the switch (yikes) theres almost 0 reason to buy the switch apart from playing online and using cartridges

Xinput and 360 dongles were a driver nightmare
