Have fun!
But… please don't forget the forum over the TV series.

It´s more about....setting up and filling the ZyXEL Media Server HDD with DVD / BluRay ripped Movies and Series.🤣

Really good for us: Since most people "moved on" to streaming garbage, many DVDs and even BDs are sooo cheap to get.
I dumped and transcoded my DVDs some years ago.

Correct,I got more BluRay´s in the last Months than in the last 5 Years.:)

Sweet! I own a BW-16D1HT drive with UHD friendly firmware to rip those 4K UHD Blu-rays, too bad my other computer has died and that I don't own a PC anymore that supports SATA ODDs. :(

I've seen that you can get USB powered drive caddies to fit an ODD inside, but they're way too expensive.

What? Any PC of the last 15 years should have SATA ports.

Mines from 2019. It doesn't have an optical drive slot either. The motherboard also uses different SATA ports from what I recall.

What the f…? I just looked at a few brand new motherboards. Plenty of standard SATA III 6GB/s ports. Six and more (in addition to multiple M.2 for high speed SSDs)
Enough for connecting several classic 3.5" HDDs for huge amounts of data as well as optical drives.
I'd avoid housings without 5.25" bays (and rather keep my >10 year old huge tower)

I wouldn't want a disc drive sticking out of the case though. Are there any ideas of where I can find a external housing for SATA ODDs? I've been trying to look for one in ages.

Sorry, no idea. I've had one and it failed in a few months… not without killing an expensive BD-RE drive along the way (might have been a coincidence, but it surely was strange).
