I would never enjoy playing a game just for the sake of it being a challenge, I genuinely love how Elden Ring's combat feels and the game is so open and you can get so many great items early that it pretty much eliminates the whole "Unfair" feeling

I think pretty much every Souls game has builds that trivialise them as long as you're happy to explore them. Elden Ring definitely does it best, but Dark Souls 1 is open enough from the start with plenty of stellar stuff out the gate. Magic in particular is very strong, or you can just shoot for something like the Black Knight weapons and you'll be set for the full game.

It sounds like I'm the same way regarding challenge - a game built around "challenge" isn't a game I tend to enjoy, not without infinite-health cheats to remove the frustration and wasted time.

In my case, I'm currently playing FF7 Remake, and Hard mode...ugh. Horrible - enemies are not only damage sponges, but deal a crapton of damage, and consumable items are disabled (no using Potions, Ethers, or Phoenix Downs), and benches no longer restore MP. I get the tougher enemies, but the other two...? Why?

Easy and Normal are perfectly fine, and the game as a whole is fantastic, but...Hard really could've been dialled back some, IMO. Not the fun kind of "challenge", like boss fights in Easy/Normal.

That seems very lazily made, first off because just plainly increasing enemy health isn't at all a good method of making a higher difficulty, and second, no items seems incredibly odd because iirc in final fantasy games your only options are really 1. hit things and 2. use items, haven't played ff7r myself though
