I believe you can back up some saves to the SD card using the back up feature in the 3DS menu

I quite prefer saves being on the cartridge instead of saving on the console itself. I broke my previous 3DS, if the save files were on the console I'd have lost hours and hours of gaming, since they were on the cartridge though, I didn't lose anything.

And the problem is...?

Saving to SD card isn't saving directly on the console itself, Skell.

you can easily break or lose the card as well. I find cartridge saves handier

But you can probably break or lose a game as easily as an SD card.

>SD Card corrupts
>Looses all saves

There are lots of SD cards out there, most of them are shitty.
So on cartridge or the specfic system card like Vita has.
Quality guaranteed on them.

You can backup the contents of your SD card much more easily than backing up save files for retail games, though.

The only problem (so far) being that trying to restore an earlier save file wouldn't work for Animal Crossing and Pokémon.

(Are there games on PSP that prevent you from restoring an older save file to the memory stick?)
