Temper Pics - Post Them Shits Up, Son

Me in front of a bus with my name on the destination display :D It's a bus from the local bus museum :) I loaded a updated destination list they supplied to me into their display system. It required a DOS program, downloading device and a laptop with RS-232. I did have the equipment for it...

PS1/2 Music of Crash Bandicoot 3 NTSC (version) is slow on PAL PS2 with Modbo chip

No, it seems like it's a problem in the Modbo (5.0) modchip. It only happens on the two PS2's with Modbo 5.0. On the others with a Ripper and a original Matrix chip this problem doesn't occur. So the Tonyhax International boot CD is the only practical solution.

Things you recently bought or got

This working small JVC AV-21BT8ENS 21" CRT television :) I found it 1,5 month ago next to a tree in the rain. At the beginning of the day there was a dumpster truck near it, so I supposed it was going to be destroyed within minutes. But when I came back in the evening it was still there, a...

Ps2 doesn't load into the gane menu

Maybe the memory card is corrupted? You can burn a uLaunchELF CD/DVD and prepare a fresh one to try. You should be able to launch OPL from the memory card with the Matrix chip if you set the boot device to DEV1 and put the OPL executable into \BOOT\BOOT.ELF on the memory card using uLaunchELF...

Hacking PS1/2 PS2 FMCB apps not loading

So far I know FMCB first check if the apps/ELF's are in place before showing the menu item, so if they are showed in the menu, the files should be in place.

Hacking PS1/2 PS2 FMCB apps not loading

Does this PS2 have a modchip too? Some versions of FMCB isn't compatible with some modchips. There's a version which says it's for use on consoles with modchips, version 1.965.

Hacking PS1/2 Tonyhax International: Backup Loader For All Japanese, USA, and PAL PS1 Consoles/Early PS2 Consoles + GameShark/Cheat Cart Flasher

It was possible to use a PS2 for formatting the memory card. Long time ago I found instructions somewhere to use some version of uLaunchELF to launch Memory card Annihilator and involving last-minute insertion of the FreePSXBoot memory card right before the formatting process, preventing it...

PS1/2 Do modern burners/CD's make lower quality PS1 backups?

These are very expensive for only testing. The £7,- is only the CD's. To let it ship to The Netherlands it will cost £9,33 shipping and £5,- taxes. And if it's delivered by PostNL they will charge me a additional €7,- when it's at the Dutch customs. It will cost €25,- or more for only 10 discs :O

PS1/2 Do modern burners/CD's make lower quality PS1 backups?

I don't have those CMC Pro discs. It's not easy to buy those in The Netherlands. Most discs in the shops here are cheap brands. He tested it in a SCPH-9xxx and a PS One which seem to have better reading capabilities. My SCPH-102 is also a PS One in which the Ritek disc works fine. But in the...

PS1/2 Do modern burners/CD's make lower quality PS1 backups?

I saw a Lite-On iHAS 124 E burner in a thrift store for 5 euros and took it because it should be a good burner :) However, it doesn't seem to be as good a the NEC ND-3550 and Pioneer DVR-107 when using cheap media. The Philips/Ritek CD-R I tried with it does play fine on the SCPH-102, but FMV...

Can I use my laptop to convert wifi to WEP?

Isn't it easier to get a old WiFi router or access point which can do WEP and connect it to the existing internet connection? Those are second-hand free te pick up or costs only a couple of euros.

PS1/2 PMAP doesn't ask for dual layer DVD?

I tried the PMAP program on my SCPH-39004 PS2. It does read (burned) discs, but it's not at it's best. To use it, I followed this post: Using the calibration tool I can't get the jitter lower then 3100-3200 which was the original position. Then at step 33 I put in a single layer DVD, a...

PS1/2 Do modern burners/CD's make lower quality PS1 backups?

Unfortunately I don't have a SCPH-1xxx/3xxx PS1 to test cheap discs on it. The slightly worn SCPH-5552 is the oldest one I have. The SCPH-39004 PS2 I have can read much bad burned discs, even those that stutter on the 7502 and 9002. But that PS2 cannot read a scratched original Crash Bash CD...

PS1/2 Do modern burners/CD's make lower quality PS1 backups?

Does these burners also burn cheap media into good playing PS1 games? Like Ritek and CMC Magnetics CD-R's. My exprience is that with good media some "bad" burners can make good playing games too, but only a good burner can turn cheap media into good games too. Like test playing with a slightly...

PS1/2 Do modern burners/CD's make lower quality PS1 backups?

Why there isn't any program for the PS1 (and PS2) to just simply read every file from the CD (or DVD) and eventually show the transfer speed, so it will be easier to know how readable a disc is for the console, before playing the game?

PS1/2 Do modern burners/CD's make lower quality PS1 backups?

That GTA0N seems to be the same model as the "HL-DT-ST slimline in a Dell desktop (it's a Optiplex 9020)" that I tried in the beginning of this topic. The results are nearly the same: CD's burned with it booted, but the audio/fmv was choppy. So far I remember, I had the choice for 10x with that...

Things you recently bought or got

I didn't count them, but I think it's really 1001  The book has 960 pages and that's including the lead-in, table of contents, index, credits and pictures. Some game descriptions don't have a picture while some have a whole page for a picture.

    Did you use Floppy Disk/Diskettes?

I used them for a long time. The first PC we had was a Pentium III with 20GB HDD around '98-'99 which didn't had a CD burner in the beginning. At some point my dad did the first reinstall and a couple of 1,44MB floppy disks was the only medium to store the data I wanted to keep before he...

Things you recently bought or got

Advertisement I picked up this book "1001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die" today :) It seems like I only played 52 games from the list  And that's including the games I played only for short times in game museums/expos and arcades. And also the games I have tried for a couple...

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
    +1
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
