    update problem E100

The data component is the whole “MSODDDSP” chip, it is possible.

    update problem E100

If you are sure the disc drive is original, start by checking drive functionality. Does it take in and out discs normally? Is all power rails supplying the disc drive and the power rails on the drive controller board present?

    update problem E100

Yes the disc drive board stays with the CPU and SSD boot partition. Are you sure if the drive is original? If you did not replace it, it’s possible someone else did.

    update problem E100

E100: Core firmware related. 703: Disc drive 80910008: Either auth fail or lock status inconsistent. Did you replace the disc drive?

Xbox series x not Reading disc

    Replace the laser. 20 char.

Why did the the xbox become less and less and less user friendly for upgrades?

Because they wanted to save $2 per console. Xbox One boots from an eMMC chip, S/X could do the same and in fact uses the same southbridge chip and has a spot for the eMMC chip, but MS omitted the eMMC and opted to store the core firmware right on the SSD, to save costs. This makes the data on...

Is it possible to replace the OS of a xbox one to windows, or a linux distro?

Not possible. Xbox has a well-implemented secure boot and disk file encryption. It ONLY loads official Xbox OS and it has version checks so even legit OS files won’t run if the version is too early. There is zero public progress in terms of hacking the boot verification, JTAG method can’t...

Can Xbox one dlcs be dumped

Depends. Some games actually have the bulk of the content already in the game, the DLC purchase is just a license entry to unlock it. For those DLCs that are actually separate downloads, I imagine they are encrypted just like the main package.

    Change Device Family?

Well that still doesn’t let you dump Xbox games. Xbox XVD/XVC encryption is a hardware thing and it’s absolutely not possible to decrypt on a PC.

    Change Device Family?

I guess not. Cortana lives in shell or app OS, which is a different VM from the gameOS.

doubts about recording XGD3 games for LT 3.0

You find out. I don’t have the devices to test, nor am I willing to risk failing checks and flagged for banning.

doubts about recording XGD3 games for LT 3.0

Where do you find 8.5G XGD3 ISOs? I suspect those are simply bad dumps that won't work properly.

xbox series s and x should be hacked

Problem is you can't. The drive is only checked for device model whitelisting, encryption isn't a part of it. What's really nasty is MS omitted the eMMC chip and put per-console encrypted critical files right on the SSD, complicating drive swap because you need to copy these files and if the...

    Hacking Privilege escalation achieved

Looks like it allows you to run stuff in SystemOS devmode as administrator, maybe more useful for curiosity and research than actually useful for devmode, you could run stuff as an administrator in a full feature Windows installation anyway. It doesn't go down into hostOS or security processor...

Is there any research into the back compat Xbox 360 'mode'?

Not really, from what I understand the 360 game VM disk is decrypted by SoC hardware, verified and mounted by the platform virtualization just like an Xbox One title. Everything the 360 emulator can access as an Xbox One title is just regular X1 gameOS environment., not anything outside of it...

Hacking Hardware Homebrew In terms of hardmodding, what has been achieved with the series consoles?

Pretty much nothing. The modern Xbox security system held up for literally 10 years. Current research is mostly based on leaked devkits and unprogrammed blank SoC chips, we barely know how it works beneath the surface, not to mention designing a method that will work on retail systems and...

    Hacking DVD Drive Vulnerability

Drive hacks ONLY allow you to run backups that have identical content as authentic discs, nothing more, it does not allow unsigned code execution in any way. Oh maybe it also helps console repair effort, there are many consoles without a matching drives bricked during an update, if we can rekey...

Is it possible to install any Linux operating system on an XBox Series X/S?

You can’t even do it as a game developer. Even games are designed to run under a VM. The entire Xbox One is designed to be totally virtualized, the system shell/app environment is a VM, the game is a dedicated high performance VM.

xbox series s and x should be hacked

The modern Xbox platform has been hackproof for around 10 years, no real progress made so far. I don't see how it will change just because you want it.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
