Namco is well-known for NOT<span style="font-family: 'verdana'"> translating its titles, and, even worse, for not letting other companies do it.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'verdana'">Hideo Baba (producer for the "Tales of" series - Namco) already told that the staff is so limited, they can't even work on every game they make... They have to focus on flagships.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'verdana'">Clearly V&B isn't one they highlight as "flagship", because they could have done the translating part since...... yes, 2003.</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p><strong><u><span style="color: #ff0000">What is it about?</span></u></strong></p><p><span style="font-family: 'verdana'">This game is mainly about eternity. The hero (a retired legendary warrior) has to return as events occur, to save the world (sort of)</span><span style="font-family: 'verdana'">.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'verdana'">While slashing his way to victory, he will recruit new members to build his team (up to 7 characters simultaneously).</span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'verdana'">But what makes his history worth playing is that the war will take more than 100 years, and our hero is eternally young. He will not age, whereas his companions will. His strength will not decrease, unlike the others. He (you) will have to say goodbye to his (your) fellows, his (your) friends, either because they will die or be taken back from front battle lines, due to their age. And then, he will have to recruit new ones, although it breaks his heart, knowing that he will have to go through it all again some day.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'verdana'">The game is divided into 2 major parts: dialogs, and battle.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'verdana'">As for the battle, the player won't have many role in it after he has displayed his forces on the battlefield. Every fight has to be prepared beforehand: it's a lot more about jigsaw-puzzle than strategy evolution through battle.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'verdana'">As you will be able to judge, the graphics (2D) look incredible on PSP, and the music is mind-blowing, too.</span></p><p> </p><p><span style="font-family: 'verdana'">A (roughly) 40-hours playthrough will be needed to see the end of it. Lots of reviewers considered it as a masterpiece, back in 2003, and still did when the pep release occurred, which led me to playing this - and to be frustrated by having to read the storyline and to put my console aside. Anyone who had done this knows how much of a pain in the mmm it is.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'verdana'">The gameplay is unique, challenging. The character design is great, and you tie very quick bonds with your teammates.... bonds that one will have to break, someday. I had never felt the weight of being unable to die and age like I felt it in this game.</span></p><p> </p><p>In the first part of the game, that is, because having to read my gamefaqs translation (actually, my legendra translation -I'm french) did bother me at one point... and now, knowing I chose to ignore such a load of brilliant moments comes back to haunt me.</p><p>Also, I feel like I have to spread the good words to the world. If you like tactical, or RPGs, or both, playing this will please everyone, I just know it.</p><p> </p><p>You should consider that a great part of the english translation( and a nearly-full french translation) already exists. Done by a guy named Random Elf. Maybe he'll be eager to let his work be used?</p><p>What's more, with the PSP version came a fault: the loading times are very annoying.
