Hi everyone.

First of all @AxelMad i want to thank you for this tutorial it helped me identify the problem with my PSU so i had it working. My problem was with zener diode from SCPH-30004 R, 12V diode, swapped it from another PSU and it worked! But my question is, what wattage is this diode, i was measuring it and its 12V but i don't know the wattage so i can order it online, i couldn't find any schematics for PSU online or reference, so if you or anyone else know anything about it i would be most grateful for the help. Power Supply model is: ZSSR094HA

Thank you all in advance i will attach picture of diode

Hello,

This guide looks very helpful and I think it will help me solve my problem:

Yesterday I bought a 50004. Plugged it in to give it a test run but noticed the standby light didn't come on.

After trying some basic things and searching online what it might be, I suddenly noticed in the corner of my eye a lovely red led come on. Must have been at least a minute after plugging it in.
Played some games (ps1 & 2), a dvd movie and music cd and all work flawlessly.

Could this be a sign of a dying power supply, something else broken? It couldn't just be because it has had no power for several years, right?
I left it unplugged overnight and it did the same thing this morning.
When switching it off and after a minute on again, it turns on immediately.

So I suppose it's a capacitor (?).

Check if the power supply is giving two 12v signals (section "B" in OP's image).

Thank you.
I checked and double checked everything.
Psu is giving exactly 12v, capacitors give a reading that is exactly correct, fuse is working (multimeter beeps).

Capacitors look really clean and no bulging, and the whole psu board is clean and no signs of something burned or broken.

It still is "slow" with building up the 12v so perhaps I'll change out the two small C20 C3 capacitors, just to be sure.

Found a replacement 82 uf 400 v for the C1 cap.
C1 apparently was the culprit on my system.
After replacing C1 and testing the standby led came on immediately.

I also replaced C3 & C20 just to be sure.

Works fine now!

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.
