Homebrew Switch reads cartridges in OFW but fails in Atmosphere

I'm trying to play a cartridge game on my Switch for the first time, but I keep getting the cartridge error on Atmosphere 1.5.3. I tried reinstalling a completely fresh copy of AMS and Hekate and made completely sure to disable the nogc patches in the hekate and stratosphere ini files but it will not play any physical games. If I boot the system into OFW it can play cartridges fine, but I don't want to have to boot OFW because I want to be able to mod and overclock for my cartridge (Skyrim).

Does anyone have any idea what might cause this?

Edit: I'm an idiot and forgot to actually copy the config file from config_templates to config, it works now

    Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

    @Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.
