One little "quality of life" feature I'm adding with my English translation of "Ougon No Kizuna", is identifying the "bonding quests" with stars. This will help players progress into the story, instead of trying each and every quest.

Sometimes (rarely), I end up being proud of a sentence that I think manages to retain the original meaning, while looking like it was written in English in 1st place.(アタシはお花を眺めてる方が好きなの野蛮なことはキライよ)
("I prefer to look at flowers. I hate barbarism")

I love that quote Brand.

I also really like that shot. Lots of interesting stuff going on there. The guy sitting in a thinking pose at the table, the person in the left corner staring at "Big guy", the guards and the elf. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Forgot to comment earlier. Please don't exhaust yourself Brand!!

In the great tradition of Japanese games, finishing "Ougon No Kizuna" unlocks an "after credits" mode

I know there have been some games that have done something like that but can't think of any offhand. Definitely not something that I think happens regularly. Have any of your other games had something like that?

I actually think that's really a nice reward (for the player, not the translator), though I guess it depends on if they've been enjoying the game or not :D

I was hoping for some unlockables like art or music or something small but that works! Though it's also a bit funny, given that the game's main fault is probably lack of polish and they add so much content for beating the game.

Actually, I believe almost all of the games I did had an "after credits" : Earth Seeker would unlock more missions, Ikenie had the "true ending", and even an "Eroge" chapter if you completed all the challenges, most of "Takt" story would be playable after you did the "light" and "dark" storylines...

As for "Kizuna", it is a bit of a shame the last city gets unlocked so late, considering the last quests (which are too long for their own good) even unlock new weapons, and most players will have stopped playing after the credits (I found only one "playthrough" video on the Internet, and the player didn't see there was one more city to visit).

Anyway, I'm left with 2 last quests (on a total of a hundred), but since the list of quests is random, I'm trying to find a cheatcode to make them appear : then we'll be good to go!

I found some other artworks on the Internet, coming from what used to be the game's website (has been down for a while, and since it was apparently in Flash, even the Internet Archive can't really help me).
Thankfully, someone had taken screenshots (albeit in low quality), and I'm doing my best to recreate the wallpaper, so I can incorporate them in the "readme".
Meaning you'll have to wait a little more few days, but I think the result might come out nice. :)
At least the first picture I cropped turned out well, as evidenced below:

Good day everyone!

The patch for "Golden Bonds" is available for download (link published on the 1st page of this thread).

Thank you all for your patience, I hope the game will, despite its flaws, still be somehow enjoyable to you!

Time for me to get some rest, but I'll gladly read about your feedbacks!

Have a nice sunday!

Great work on the trailer Brand. It's great! In it, we see some locations that haven't ever been shown in video form, which is a treat. Also, as an aside, I can't believe you got Jon to narrate it.

Get some well deserved rest. Thank you for the translation!!

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
