oh god that's like 30 quid here ;o
Damn indeed that's a steal ;D
I've given up on the HDD I had used for HDDHackr (prolly incompatible PC side SATA chipset) and placed it in me PS3 ;p

Oh that reminds me, I've been meaning to ask you, that hard drive that worked on your Jtag console but not your retail, did you ever get it working, or was that the one you're talking about?

JTAG/RGH consoles don't need a Security Sector written to sector 16 in order for them to work ;]
Just stick in any sized 2.5 inch HDD and it'll work.
Being it 10 GB or 2TB (limit of FATX) it'll work ;]
Retail ones do require a Security Sector at sector 16
And the Security Sector is the HDDSS.bin ;p

Is that why it didn't work in your retail console then, because since you have a (presumably) incompatible SATA chipset, you couldn't/didn't flash the security sector?

HDDHackr didn't detect the HDD on 3 desktops.
Tried every SATA setting and every other setting but no avail.
Then I just injected the HDDSS into the drive with a hex editor, it detected the injected HDDSS and it did format correctly on me RGH.
I checked it again and the HDDSS was still in place, however me flashed one didn't detected it.
Nothing, not even unformatted or whatever.

I completely overwritten the file system with 0's and tried again.
Same story, however this time I flashed the HDDSS and wanted the flashed console to format it (possibly eliminating the RGH doing it) but it didn't detected it

That's really, really weird, if everything is hex written as it's supposed to be.

I'll let you know if I run into any hiccups through my USB Pro v2 but I don't think there will be any.
