Hi friends. I'm super super super new to romhacking (though not playing romhacks), and I was wondering if anyone either knows of an Angelic Layer English translation or wants to collab on one because I super wanna play this game without having to hold up my phone to the screen to Google translate everything. Last post I saw on here asking about a translation went unanswered in 2018 so figured it was worth another shot.

Anyway, I'm still learning how hex editors and all that good stuff works, but I'm totally down to do the actual translating. Lemme know

Is your Japanese good but not good enough to do it in real time?

Anyway never even heard of this before, in general or as a game people want translated, and while some people do take on oddball projects then that is also rare.

Sell us all on the game. What is it? What is it about? Does it have any interesting mechanics? Does it form the precursor or spinoff to something we might know (be it in the same franchise/universe or devs later went on to do/had previously done)?
If we are hacking it then if there is an annoying mechanic or bug that might need some refining as it drags the whole experience down then do mention that too as it could well be fixed as part of the translation effort.

"Angelic Layer (Japanese: エンジェリックレイヤー, Hepburn: Enjerikku Reiyā) is a manga series released by Clamp. The manga was published in Japan by Kadokawa Shoten, and in English originally by Tokyopop, but has since been re-licensed by Dark Horse Comics. It was the group's first work using a significantly pared down style, which lowered emphasis on detail and accentuated posing and gestures. It would later be repeated in series like Chobits and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle.

The manga was adapted into a 26-episode anime series produced by Bones titled Angelic Layer: Battle Doll (機動天使エンジェリックレイヤー, Kidō Tenshi Enjerikku Reiyā, lit., "Angelic Layer: Mobile Angel") which aired on TV Tokyo from April 1, 2001 – September 23, 2001. Seven volumes of videos were released by ADV Films on VHS and DVD in 2003. It was re-released in 2005 as a five volume box set.[2] North American publisher Dark Horse Comics re-releases Angelic Layer in omnibus format in 2011.[3] Sentai Filmworks will re-release the series under their Sentai Selects label on November 24, 2015. Anime Limited announced they would release the series in the UK in 2018.[4]

Angelic Layer takes place in the same universe as Clamp's later work Chobits, which similarly deals with the relationship between humans, human-created devices, toys, and godlike power. Several characters also appear in Clamp's Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle including most of the main characters, as well as the angel Blanche."

As for the game itself:

"Released in 2001 (Game Boy Advance) A story about a fighting game called Angelic Layer of the
first-year junior high school girl “Misaki Suzuhara” from Wakayama.

The “angelic layer” is
a so-called toy that allows you to hatch eggs with angels and customize them to your own style.
As soon as I arrived in Tokyo, I was impressed by the
small, but strong, white Angelic Layer when I saw the fighting competition moving to Aurora Vision.

A mysterious man appears to her who admires the driver (Deus).
Misaki and Angelic Layer are at the mercy of their destiny.
The CLAMP original motion product is now available at the GBA!"
