1960s Thunderbirds is better than ~2015 Thunderbirds.

1. The original show, created by Gerry Anderson, had episodes that ran for about 50 minutes, whereas the new show only has roughly 25-minute episodes, since it's more akin to a regular cartoon. This severe decrease in time means less opportunity for plot complexity and characterisation and action - the main things Anderson's version was beloved for. The new show just feels more disposable, as a result.
2. Gerry Anderson used marionettes in his show, giving it a very unique aesthetic that I'd say still looks great today. The revival just uses CGI, like practically all other cartoons these days, thus losing all of that uniqueness and charm.
3. Why'd they make kind old Grandma who cooks good food into a crotchety old hag who serves food-poisoning cases? What's the point behind this change?
4. Tintin was a far more likeable girl than "Kayo", that's for damn sure. Oh, and I don't think Tintin's father, Kyrano, is in the reboot...lame.
5. Getting rid of Jeff Tracy and focusing on the "kids" just wasn't a good moves, since Jeff held a good 'mission control' role, and some classic Supermarionation episodes revolved around him influencing his sons - for example, him being talked into going on vacation and having Scott take over, and seeing how he handled the job. Or him talking his sons out of rescuing a guy floating helplessly through space because the team was being hunted down for a crime (theft of advanced jet blueprints...despite the team already having TB1, which can reach Mach 22, and a goddamn rocket in TB4) they didn't commit.
It was nice seeing Jeff interact with his sons, and the reboot doesn't have that, since he's now "missing".

I find generally the modern equivalents to stuff I grown up with tend to miss the point about what made the original shows so good

I suppose it is still good news that people still care about Gerry Anderson's work, but...it could've been so much more faithful.
If puppets are too expensive and difficult, then at least keep the 50-min runtime and the original cast!
