Don't know if it was an aftershock or if it's a new one. Up till yesterday we had over 500 replicas of the last one, three days ago.
I was about to sleep with my two dogs, we (my family) just had a fight hours prior, so it wasn't the best case scenario.
Parents didn't helped me with my two dogs and cat.
My two sisters, didn't helped either.
One of them, the oldest, the one that brought Kiki my cat from the streets to home, 4 years ago, petrifies with earthquakes.
We had to convince her to get out of the fuckin bed to flee the apartment.
I went out first, two dogs with me, flashing the steps since we live in a second floor apartment. One of my dogs (Luna to be precise) nearly fell off the stairs because she us stupid as fuck, probably got confused with going out to play.
My big sis, with Kiki covered in a small blanket, got out of the apartment last.
Once we were outside of the building in a safe area, that is, the parking lot, sat on the floor.
We stood there for about 30 minutes, in which I probably felt more aftershocks, as I felt myself moving from side to side.
When we were about to return to the apartment my cat ran away to the nearest garden, which was behind my sister's body.
Being 12: something AM, dark as fuck, didn't saw where my black cat went to.
Both of my sisters, instead of helping, blamed each other, big sis which was carrying Kiki, began to cry and just stood there like a moron.
The other, didn't helped at all.
I felt really down... But I refused to leave my cat outside... I turned on my phone's led flash and got into the garden. Felt my feet deep in mud as we've been having some rain. Felt death leaves from the trees, and I thought that maybe I should put on some shoes in case I had to climb a tree.
I went back to the apartment to put on some shoes as I fleed with my flipflops on.
My dumb parents and useless sister asked: "DiD yOu fOuNd HeR?" in the most annoying way possible... I nearly screamed at them.
I wanted to cry as I couldn't believe their impotence to the problem and over useless attitude.
I put the best sneakers I could find and ventured back to the garden.
I flashed the trees but my led is weak compared to the darkness of the situation, figuratively and literally. Probably my flash lit up about 5 feet if not less, and I was flashing at trees of more than 50 feet in height.
I began to call her by Kiki, while my big sis just sat on the floor crying out her name "Masha".
I literally moved out cactuses barehanded, kicked the shit out of the bushes and leaves in desperation, when suddenly, I saw a yellow pair of eyes looking at me.
I got closer and indeed was Kiki. Indeed curled up beneath a huge bush surrounded by cacti.
I found her probably 1 hour later.
"Jazmin, I've found her. Let's go"
Somehow that sentence made her cry even more.
No light, no internet, no nothing... but I at least rescued my cat. She's back home, she's scared.
She just drank some water and hid beneath the dinning table.
Smartphone Radio wasn't helping, FM stations were dead and all of them were reproducing music on loop.
This felt familiar, hit different...
Of course by now the electric service and the internet are back to normal.
In these cases, when an earthquake is strong, both electricity and internet alongside phone services goes out for hours.
Sometimes, for days if not a whole week.
I'm glad Kiki is back with me.
Fuck my family and fuck me.
Also, fuck you too.
I knew I can count with nobody... but this day has cemented that feeling further.
