It’s realism. It really can’t get much worse when 2 out of 5 people you ask are unemployed and your money is worth nothing. The country is on the precipice of disaster, and has been since before Milei was elected. They need drastic action because whatever they’ve been doing lately is not working.

The gap you’re describing had *narrowed* from 200% to 18% since Milei took office, and recently rose back up to 44% due to uncertainty. The graph looks this way because the currency was intentionally devalued as part of the initial economic package.
So yeah, trust the plan, actually. The graph looks as expected. Let’s zoom out. You can see a significant increase in confidence between January and April. Had the rally continued, you’d be seeing December, if not October numbers instead, but there are some roadblocks in the way.
Artificial devaluing, not market confidence.
Also, all this ride in the span of a month doesn't scream "strong and stable" in any way.
Yeah since we don't have free access to get USD there's a parallel (illegal) market. That parallel price was frozen for the first few months (started going up recently), that's why it looked like the peso was going strong.
See how "Parallel peso" is the one going positive but the official one is in the negative. It's so stupid I can't believe we're even discussing this.

Yeah, the actual news is just written so people take it at face value but won't look into it. We're still getting fucked and industry and activity is falling more and more. Things are not looking good.
