So what's the current state of hacking and freeshop?

Hi my good people,
I just found an old 3DS of mine and it was hacked via Soundhax or something I guess, many, many years ago, let it be 6 to 7 years!
It still boots, on an old firmware. Freeshop, which was a thing back then, also still starts, but fails when downloading.

Can someone bring me up to speed what's necessary to get that thing on the current state of the art.
Upgrading the FW to latest would be obvious, latest Luma, maybe new entrypoint.
Is freeshop still a thing? Is there anything like it that still works or would one have to acquire the .cia's and install them via FBI manually. Thanks a bunch!

Doesn't work anymore. We do not provide links to pirated software either.

The dude who operated Freeshop got arrested for possession of illegal child pictures on his server.

Freeshop been dead for years but you can use h-shop.
thanks... so what about updating the 3ds to latest version, should I re-hack using a different hack? soundhax is also boot9strap which should be on there. or do you recommend just un-hacking, restoring to stock and then re-hacking using latest version, updating to current fw, then going from scratc

Can you check what Luma3DS version is it on? hold select while powering on the 3ds.

oh i know what happened to thecruel
I just wasn't sure if the freeshop method didn't work anymore, regardless of that
You can use hShop, but freeShop has been dead because Nintendo updated their CDN communication servers to the eShop, therefore this method no longer works.

Do you know what version of Luma3DS you are using? Maybe update your 3DS to use the latest CFW.

It's a few years old, maybe the hax itself stays and I just update Luma

Cool, thanks. Will try that. Haven't touched a 3DS in years, but was very into it back then, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it again quickly.
The way I see it, I only update Luma, FBI maybe as well and install hshop, should be enough.

So I just replaced boot.firm and boot.3dsx with latest files from github.... And it's still showing Luma 7.1 when I hold select while booting.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

I don't see the buzz about a square screen personally. I think there will be a review on the site within a few weeks though if you are interested.

I've put down the money on the Odin 2 Mini since I just love that Vita form factor. Loved the power of the Odin 2 but the size always put me off, this one seems exactly what I've been wanting.

I don't care about the square screen it's just nice to hold something you don't have to stretch your arms a foots length

All these things expecting to be super huge is overrated just run a type c cable to your TV if you want a big display or in my case screen mirror it

My point is we already have enough shit with big displays having something pocketable with up to ps2 would be fine on the go
