I have the same problem as you guys, tried putting vitashell on my ps vita and it wont work it just says "you cant download content that is not yours". Psvimgtools-frontend doesnt work on my vita either.

Just follow these steps:
-connect ps vita through content manager
-run qcma
-click backup (do it in content manager)
-then restore (also in content manager)
-enjoy!

huh. i've got a vita with enso, no vitashell, won't install, and updateblocker is still enabled. guess i'll have to try it, thanks for the tip

Which guide did you follow?

That's a good tip, but if you used vita.hacks.guide and followed the steps accurately, you should be able to run VitaShell from the beginning.

Then you use PKGj to download your games and Vita Homebrew Applications for homebrew.
