I take advantage of the fact that who preceded me has bumped this thread to underline something "scandalous": no one has ever mentioned Super Robot Taisen Judgment, translated into English for quite some time now, which has excellent gameplay, an engaging and complex plot, fluid and diversified animations, captivating music; all features that make the most of this little console's potential.

here's a "hidden gem" to consider. "Kerplunk, Toss Across, Tip it".
Kerplunk used a fully interactable 3D model with accurate sandbox physics and gravity. which was an incredible innovation for the GBA hardware. if it was a Public Domain tech demo, people would have blown their minds at the time. but its a complete, functional kerplunk game, and the only one of it's kind. i don't even think Kerplunk was ever even released on PC.

another game nobody's ever going to mention is "Sorry, Aggravation, Scrabble Jr." . Yes, there is also Sorry on Nintendo DS, but the GBA version just works perfectly and is easily accessible. Plus, you don't have to listen to the constant... "CMON...BLUUES... CMON... REDS..." every turn in Sorry on DS. Scrabble jr isn't as good as Scrabble regular, but it's a good inclusion.

and finally, "Konami Collector Series". is another great compilation that doesn't get enough credit. what's amazing about this is the varrying range of genre's represented in the collection. you have a Fighting Game, an arcade Side Scroller, a Horizontal Shooter, a Free Roaming Shooter, a pseudo 3D On Rails type shooter, and Frogger. the interesting thing is, even Konami Classics on Nintendo DS didn't even have Frogger. so that makes this GBA title even more special and unique.

I believe nobody mentioned monster rancher advance 2, which is a very good portable version of the PSX classics with new monsters and some QOL changes. It's not quite as good, but it's definitely worth playing if you're into that kinda game.

+1 to the following also:
mother 3
pokemon Ruby Sapphire and Emerald
pokemon fire red and green leaf
pokemon pinball
sonic advance 2 and sonic battle
kirby mirror and kirby nightmare in dreamland
mario kart super circuit (possibly my favourite mario kart, surely better than SNES and 64, and i'd dare say it's better than DS)

Did not see mentioned:
- Densetsu no Stafy 1-3 (Good underwater platformer series from Tose/Nintendo. Japan only but being a platformer it's fine to play without knowing Japanese. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legendary_Starfy )
- Klonoa (series) (Solid puzzle platformer series from Namco, includes Klonoa: Empire of Dreams, Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament, Klonoa Heroes: Densetsu no Star Medal (JP only) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klonoa )
- Magical Vacation (Solid Japan only Nintendo RPG, English translation patch available)
- Tomato Adventure (Solid Japan only Nintendo RPG, English translation patch available)
- Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak (Solid adventure game from Nintendo)
- Puyo Pop (Solid version of classic Puyo Puyo)
- Love Hina Advance (Visual novel/dating sim with English translation patch)
- Koro Koro Puzzle Happy Panechu (tilt sensor puzzle game from Nintendo, tilt patch available https://gbatemp.net/threads/gba-no-tilt-patches-for-ds-users.584128/ )

Also +1 on the following:
- Guru Logic Champ
- Hamtaro: Rainbow Rescue
- Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town (one of the best entries in the entire series)
- Kuru Kuru Kururin/Kururin Paradise
- Mother 1+2
- Mr. Driller (series) (though Mr Driller Ace really is much better)
- Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire (especially with the new rumble patches)
- Sword of Mana

Yes. It's exactly that.

On the Gameboy Player for the Gamecube, certain games would have a rumble option when using the gamecube controller.

Those games are getting patched to work with flashcarts with rumble built in.
Yeah, that. There's more info, and the patches can be downloaded in these threads:

I want a handheld gaming system with a tablet sized screen, like a 8 or10" screen, with controllers that can detach like the Switch.

@BigOnYa i was legitimately trying to scratch my leg, this is reminding me of that cylinder post

I don't see the buzz about a square screen personally. I think there will be a review on the site within a few weeks though if you are interested.

I've put down the money on the Odin 2 Mini since I just love that Vita form factor. Loved the power of the Odin 2 but the size always put me off, this one seems exactly what I've been wanting.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I don't care about the square screen it's just nice to hold something you don't have to stretch your arms a foots length
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
All these things expecting to be super huge is overrated just run a type c cable to your TV if you want a big display or in my case screen mirror it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
On the go tho I meant, I use my 10" tablet and a Bluetooth controller for retro gaming while sitting on my porch or on long car rides sometimes. Easier on my eyes than the Switch screen.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
My point is we already have enough shit with big displays having something pocketable with up to ps2 would be fine on the go
