Ey y'all, back again for my yearly life update. I really enjoy doing these and its actually something I look forward to every time I do them, it's interesting to read back and see how far I've progressed in certain aspects of my life. I promise I'll try to keep it short this year, a lot happened but not a lot at the same time. This year flew by in a blink of an eye honestly.
The very beginning of the year was interesting to say the least. I believe it was January 3rd or 4th, I woke up to a text from my best friend basically telling me to fuck off in the nicest set of words he could and that he didn't want to be friends with me anymore. I won't get into details as to why, but it was over a situation that didn't even involve either of us. It was because of our differing viewpoints and conclusions on it, given how close we've been for almost half of our lives I figured it's something we could talk over and come to an understanding on but I suppose not. I've run into him in public a couple times and the guy acts like I don't even exist. It's really fucked with me this entire year and I'm trying to come to terms with it but it's honestly really hard. I've never had to deal with something like this before, especially with a person who I shared so much time of my life with and considered a brother and who also introduced me to my now wife, but life is strange.
Talking about my now wife though, we also tied the knot in January! It's crazy to think its been almost a year since we got married now but we're coming up to our one year anniversary and going strong! We're still waiting on all the paperwork from the government to be approved so she can finally start working, a lot of it was already supposed to be approved but it's been a never-ending waiting game. Hopefully she'll get her stuff approved soon so she can find employment and we can finally move out of my parents house! *fingers crossed*
Welp, in January yet again, I started recording a project called Blackbraid. I met the person behind the project at an Opeth show in November of 2021 and we began chitchatting and working on his songs shortly afterwards in January. It was a blast to work on those tracks and they all came together so quick once we got the ball rolling and when he released the very first song from the project, it fuckin' blew up! Like, literally he was one of the hottest underground Metal artists this year with that album. Topping a lot of end year lists, including Decibel Magazines Top 40 Of The Year list getting to number 4! He got a write up and everything where he talked about the recording process with me and how it all came together and it was really cool! It put my name on the map with recording to where I haven't had to reach out to a project all year to record because I've gotten a handful who have hit me up instead! It's a really awesome feeling.
I think I'll end it there before I keep jibber jabbering, hopefully that wasn't too long. The majority of the year was mainly just spent working on music and spending time with my wife/family doing a bunch of different activities. Not a bad year I'd say. Had it's ups and downs as usual but it was a pretty successful year in my opinion!
