The Worst Uni Class (that I remember)

And yes, if I remember it when I cannot recall any of my other classes, then that's saying something about how sickeningly awful it was.

Back in 2017, I had to do a "Programming Fundamentals" class, all bout Java - a mandatory class, that was listed as a prerequisite for other subjects. The uni had its own subdomain, or whatever, dedicated to handling coding - where all the the exercises could be downloaded, then uploaded to check for the correct solution - HOWEVER, if you tried to submit compiled code outside of class, it would only count it as 'practice', and not actually record the exercise as completed. For it to count, and for the next set of exercises to be unlocked, you had to do it in class, no exceptions.

Furthermore, the tutors did not allow students to assist each other in these exercises - it was practically under exam conditions. No talking, no phones, no notes, and the VMs the lab computers auto-booted to did not have access to the Internet, only the uni Intranet. So if you had absolutely zero idea how to do something, you were completely boned - oh, and asking the tutors wasn't much help either, since they didn't try to help you understand, just gave "tips" and "suggestions" that might not help that much.

Sure, they did try to teach new concepts before we were allowed to work on the week's exercises, and I think there were resources on the uni's (now defunct) Blackboard portal, but they really didn't help much. I only managed to pass that shitty class by downloading the current few exercises at home, along with the completed code (that they also offered for download, thankfully), and completing the exercises myself through rote memorisation instead of actually learning - then when in class, under those stupidly-strict conditions, I could just fill in the code.
Couldn't do the optional extra, challenging assignments, but rote memorisation got me a bloody worthless Credit for Programming Fundamentals on my second try at that retarded subject (Failed the first time around, the year before).

honestly java is not a bad language and the system described does sound bad but not allowing students to access stack overflow or any website should be a sin.

The problem with X party blocked X bill that would have prevented X is that yes the bill probably would have worked great, buuuttt they put XYZDCBG in said bill as an attempt to sneak things in that tend to be completely unrelated to the original bills intent. It sucks because if they would just do a single thing they could probably get something done...
