Although lacking in size and features, the Windows application BootIt has a feature that most users will find very useful: the ability to flip the 'removable bit' in most Lexar flash drives (and it works with some others as well). This makes compatible flash drives not require safe removal (although Windows Vista and newer will still give the option for it with most drives).
To use the aforementioned feature with a compatible device, just click the box for 'Flip Removable Bit' from within the application (On Vista or newer, you might need to remove the device in Device Manager (remove the device, NOT the driver), before the next step to actually see an effect), close the app, safely remove the drive through the taskbar notification icon, then unplug and reinsert the drive.
This makes compatible flash drives safe for hotswapping when used with USB loaders in modded video game consoles, portable media players, and more!
