Anti privacy on Jackass The Game

I got a hold of a totally legal iso of Jackass The Game from a friend that ripped it for his own conservation, and loaded in my PSP-2000.
I never got past episode 1, and after some googing I found some ancient threads saying that ripped Jackass The Game will not progress beyond episode 1 and also have difficulty running on Adrenalin on PS Vita.
Is there any cool story about this? Was this a clever anti piracy trick by the developer like Rare did on there games on SNES and N64?

Edit: the title got auto corrected. Anti piracy on Jackass The Game is of course what I tried to write
