The Official List Of Internet Plagues In No Particular Order [TOLOIPINPO] #1

Whether you’re Christian or not, chances are you’ve heard the story of The Plagues of Egypt. 10 great disasters have struck the Pharoh and his subjects, each more severe than the last. Today we deal with out own plagues in many walks of life, and I have chosen to catalogue the ones we encounter on the Internet, in no particular order. This list will be on-going and, with some luck, we can eliminate these blights once they are identified and recognised.

Here’s number one: “Lunarbaboon: The Daily Life of Parenthood”

Makes my guts turn inside-out.

Comments

What's so bad about Lunarbaboon? I just looked it up and it looks like the worst that it could produce is a bad dad joke.

@N10A It’s predictable, sappy, unfunny and usually provides terrible parenting advice. The comic infests social media like a plague.

@The Real Jdbye I’m from a time when all of the Internet was KiwiFarms, and it was way better that way. The hope was that as technology spreads among the masses people will become more tech-literate. The opposite happened instead - the Internet, and tech more broadly, was neutered to serve the masses and now everything sucks. It’s objectively a worse experience, by any metric.

Those forced and extremely unsettling "Family" YouTube channels in which they exploit their children for internet fame and revenue. I can't imagine the long term damage it does to the kids psyche

@shaunj66 In all fairness, it’s the modern equivalent of the “90’s Family Show”, except now anyone can be the Olsen twins. It’s all narcissism of the parents, but alas, it can’t be helped. Same bucket as the pre-teen beauty pageants and other assorted “my child will achieve a very specific goal that I wanted to achieve and never could” types of activities. More broadly, family life of any kind on the Internet is a huge red flag.

@shaunj66 @Foxi4

Do you guys have any idea on how can I ad revenue my niece?
