Because nothing is responding. I can't open anything, typing on my keyboard doesnt do anything, clicking anywhere with my mouse does nothing either.
Guys, what can I say to make you all understand? This bug happens at very random moment, I don't know how to make it happens or when it will happen. But when it happen, I cant do anything. Nothing.
Sorry. I understood you perfectly well, i'm just trying to rule out some possibilities. Have you tried to overclock the CPU at all?

Check that box and put the number to the max and do a restart.
ok, done and restarted, we'll see if it happens ever again

no, CPU and GPU have not been overclocked (not by me at the very least)

No errors at all pertaining to it in Computer Management > Event Viewer > Windows Logs?

Personally, I'd format the main drive and do a fresh install of Windows. If it still happens after that, then you can completely eliminate Windows itself as the problem.

Have you checked windows event viewer after the issue happens to see if you can get any clues? Any warnings or errors popping up after these hangs happen? Open computer management, event viewer, windows logs and check under application and system.

You could try entering Windows own recovery environment and doing startup repair by holding down the shift key while clicking restart when windows is responsive enough to do it. You can also try turning the pc off and on with the power button a few times consecutively (while the windows logo is displayed on boot). It should enter the windows recovery environment if done enough times after a while. If it's a prebuilt it might have it's own recovery and diagnostics environment that you can access by pressing a certain key on boot.

They are not having startup problems.

Just in case it is a ram issue, you can type mdsched into a command prompt as it will run windows own memory diagnostics.
did it, no problem detected (I think, at 99%, no problem were detected yet, and at 100%, it just rebooted and went to windows normally

Well that's one less possibility ruled out. Are there any firmware or driver updates for your SSD?

Hello,

I have this problem that occurs once in while. It happens at totally random moments (I can be browsing internet, I can be watching youtube video, I can be gaming, I didn't see any constant on when it happens)
My computer starts lagging a lot. The program I'm currently using (firefox, a video game, Plex, etc) stop responding, but I can't seem to trigger anything, like an error message, closing the program with ALT+F4, or open task manager with CTRL+ALT+DELETE, nothing seem to works, but I can still move my cursor.
After about a minute or two, my program is still unresponding, but everything else will then be unresponding. Like, if I was playing a video game on screen 1 and watching something on screen 2, and my video game was unresponding for a while, well my firefox, my plex, everything will be unresponding after a minute or two.
Finally, some stuff will start closing, like windows explorer, but they will close one after the other with several dozens of seconds between each other, most of the time, over a minute.
I usually just force restart my computer with hardware button.

I'd like to know if anyone has a solution for that.
I had an HDD that was dying (according to Kaspersky, it was in poor state, but it was very old too, so I wasnt surprised), so I backed up what I really needed before removing it with the help of Fencing Kirkland.

What would you guys suggest me to do to fix that? Clean install of windows? Factory reset?
Or maybe would it be an hardware piece that is failling?
My C drive is kinda new : LINK
I ordered it on October 2023.
All the other drives are fairly old (over 2 years old each)

Thanks for any kind of support you guys can provide
it's possible that your computer is experiencing hardware or software instability issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

  1. Check for hardware issues by running diagnostic tests on your components, especially the RAM, CPU, and GPU. Ensure that they are not overheating during normal usage.
  2. Update all your drivers and software, including your operating system, to the latest versions to eliminate any potential bugs or compatibility issues.
  3. Perform a thorough scan of your system for malware and viruses using reputable antivirus and antimalware software.
  4. Use the Windows Disk Check tool (chkdsk) to scan your drives for errors and repair any issues found.
  5. Review the Windows Event Viewer for any error messages or warnings that may provide clues about the cause of the instability.
  6. Consider performing a clean install of Windows or a factory reset if none of the above steps resolve the issue.
  7. Monitor your system's performance using performance monitoring tools to track resource usage and identify any abnormalities.
  8. If you suspect a specific hardware component is failing, such as an older hard drive, consider replacing it with a new one to see if that resolves the issue.
If you're unsure about performing any of these steps yourself, seek assistance from a professional technician or IT support specialist for further diagnosis and resolution.

ok, so it just happened.
you guys told me to check windows event logs right after i reboot, for any error or warning
in "Applications" there are 30 216 events
there are A LOT of error and warnings (way too many for me to read every single one of them)
As for the system logs, there are 34 217 events
there are even more "error" "warning" but also some "critical"

Just the latest ones. If the errors were caused by the same thing failing chances you'll find it in many of those logs, so these system errors are not happening randomly.

I see that about every hour, I get this "Error" event
Description says :
svchost (4904,D,23) SRUJet: Base de données C:\Windows\system32\SRU\SRUDB.dat : l’index UserIdTimeStamp de la table {DA73FB89-2BEA-4DDC-86B8-6E048C6DA477} est endommagé (0).

Which roughly translate to
svchost (4904,D,23) SRUJet: Database C:\Windows\system32\SRU\SRUDB.dat : Index UserIdTimeStamp of {DA73FB89-2BEA-4DDC-86B8-6E048C6DA477} table is damaged (0).

I also got three of these "Warning" event in the same second

In the event viewer logs, have you any warnings for nvlddmkm? I noticed that you are using an nvidia GPU. If there are, it 'could' be a TDR issue at a small chance. Other than that, you could go through all the startup items using msconfig. Disable anything non-microsoft and anything else non-essential. Reboot the PC. Is it stable? If so, enable the non-essential startup items a few (or preferably one) at a time and try again.
