First all of all what you're doing is wrong. You don't launch Wii U games from SD, well not anymore.

If it's wii u games, use NUSspli and let it dl & install for you.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/nusspli...nintendo-update-servers-to-your-wii-u.566055/

Or if the console dl speed is puting you off then use. Then use wii u downloader:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/relase-...tform-alternative-to-wii-u-usb-helper.621432/
Then put the game on the sd card and use Nusspli to install it.

Thanks for this! I appreciate the tips. I had no idea what NUSspli was. So convenient, but very slow. I have like 15 games that I backed up that I want to convert to eshop downloads.
I will def check out Wii U downloader

If you just want to convert your games, just run wud2app.exe in Bootcamp, like I said. But it will still take about as long as using NUSspli to convert and copy each game to SD.

I have a pc, but haven’t got around to the Wii U downloader. There’s a mac Wii U downloader but my OS Ventura says I need to contact the developer because it is out of date.
Appreciate the help

Hey
Tiramisu by itself protects the WiiU from system updates?
Thanks!
Uhhh, I'm pretty sure it doesn't? You need to delete a folder on NAND in order to permanently disable updates. Tiramisu will pop up an error on boot if you haven't done this. Or maybe that's Aroma? I honestly can't remember. Either way, neither Tiramisu nor Aroma protect you from updates by themselves.

It does iirc.
But it's not 100% save. Standby functions are still able to do the update, for example.

The big, red warning screen that you should delete the update folder in case Tiramisu detects the folder is there for a reason.

it's both.

it's both.
But I've read in comments of youtube tutorials, so many users are receiving the red warning of Tiramisu, even after deleting the update folder. So maybe deleting it that's not enough?

@Anikemi This is the warning:
1687177192704.png

For me removing the update folder like it tells is enough to get rid of it. Also I looked into the codes and it shows this screen in case the folder /storage_mlc01/sys/update exists only.
So most likely these YouTubers did something wrong. Did they double-check with FTP that the directory had really been deleted?

//EDIT: Also they should follow the official guide only, not some random youtube videos.

Is there any reason why the official guide mentions installing .wad files using YAWMM will brick your vWii? I've read about plenty of people having official WiiWare files working just fine on their Wii U's vWii. Did this warning serve a simple purpose to avoid people installing sketchy forwarders or what's going on?

@1985VV Re-read the warning:
Installing any IOS (including TED IOSes) or wads made for the original Wii on your vWii will brick it.
I agree that wording is a bit bad here but this isn't about games beeing distributed as wads but system sofware. There are hardware differences between an original Wii and vWii. So system software made for the Wii can't utilize the vWiis hardware correctly and as a result it crashes. Games on the other hand don't talk to the hardware directly but to the system software (IOS) which does the translation.

//EDIT: Searched the whole guide for the phrase "YAWMM" but can't find it.

if you install a bad WAD (also some bad IOS ...... ) with YAWMM of which you are not sure of the source on the vwii mode of the wii U, this is where you risk bricking your vwii .

noticing that the most essential homebrew apps already have WUBHD ports that work on AROMA
would be good in the Homebrew Launcher also got a WUBHD port as well
I don't think anyone has any intention of creating a .wuhb for the Homebrew Launcher, since one of Aroma's features is that homebrew apps on your SD card will simply populate the Wii U menu and can be launched from there instead. There's essentially no need for a separate launcher app to be created for Aroma, since loading that first would just make it take longer. If it's about organizing homebrew apps so they're all in one place though, you can put them in a folder on the Wii U menu.

What about using older apps that haven't been updated to have a wuhb? Some people such as myself don't want to have to reboot to Tiramisu every time we wanna use them nor can we just simply compile a wuhb for 'em..

@jeffyTheHomebrewer Aroma supports .rpx just fine. .elf is fundamentally incompatible with how Aroma works, a HBL won't change that. An Aroma HBL would list .rpx and .wuhb files and launch them through Aromas loader, just like the homebrews in the home menu plugin does right now.

Well I know RPX is compatible, but ELF isn't? Seriously? How the hell not?

.elf homebrews occupy the same RAM area the module/plugin system uses. So you can't have both but when you remove said systems from Aroma you get Tiramisu.

Oh. And there's no way we could just make a special launcher to redirect ELF homebrew to use the same ram area as modern RPX homebrew, or no?
I know it'd be hard, but, it would also be nice.

Whether there was a way or not, it's unlikely anyone would feel like doing that when it's simple enough to just dual boot. That's what the environment loader was designed for. Tiramisu and Aroma can easily live side by side on the same SD card.

It's a small hassle to have to switch between them, but I don't think most homebrew devs are going to take the time to figure out and implement a system to do all of that when it's easier for them to just boot into Tiramisu instead.
