Homebrew DS Games and Twilight++ Boot to Black Screen (Boot9strap/Luma) - Help Needed

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place but I could really use some help.

I consider myself somewhat of a techie person but I can't figure out what is going wrong. I've been following the guide on 3dshacksguide to install boot9strap onto my old 3DS (ctr-001(usa)/ctr-s-usz-c0). However, after going through all of the steps and installing Twilight++ it launches to a black screen when I either start twilight or a DS game. On top of this, I can't system update at all with or without an SD card inserted either before or after doing the steps outlined below.

I have done a CTRTransfer as well as the "DSi / DS functionality is broken" of the troubleshooting guide

I have also tried going back and restoring the sysnand that I made earlier.

I updated luma manually as the updater was getting stuck.

I have also tried uninstalling and manually reinstalling twilight++ after doing the above steps and still no dice.

After doing the above, and on each step, DS games still launch to a black screen and the system update still gives an "unexpected error."

Any help would be appreciated and I will be happy to post more info if needed. I have honestly run out of ideas at this point.

EDIT: Just discovered that system also blackscreens when going into the "Nintendo DS connections" under the "Internet Settings"

Did you uninstall twi apps via twi uninstaller and update system via settings?

I uninstalled via the TWL-FIX but I can't system update in the settings, it errors out every time. Is there an actually twilight uninstaller that can be used? I haven't managed to find anything other than TWLFix.

Did you try updating via recovery mode?

Yeah, the same thing as going through the settings happens

I did and gave me an error also but then I retried to update system and worked.
Go to region change on 3ds.hacks and do region change but install your region. Dont update immadietly, do twl uninstall first, then update system. If this doesnt work, do region change again, update and do the twl uninstall. And lastly update system.

Just tried region changing via https://3ds.hacks.guide/region-changing.html with the TWL-Fix before update as well as a region change with an update before a TWL-Fix and got the same error each time trying to do the system update.

Thanks for your help so far though. I'm going to bed now but I'll be back on tomorrow to try any new suggestions anyone might have.

Your twl firms broken obvious but system cant detect.. I think you should write this on 3ds.guide discord server. Also, maybe try different wifi or really do region change (like eur to usa) and do these processes again?
I hope you will fix this issue.

Ok well I managed to get the system to do a system update by connecting to a different network. I went through all of the steps for a CTRTransfer again but whenever I try and transfer the tickets, 3 or so get stuck on a "0xD8E086B" Error type -7. The system now shows that it is up to date but still blackscreens on DS titles.

I SOLVED IT

Posting this here in case anyone else comes across the same problem. Turns out that my system wasn't connecting to the internet properly. I connected to different wifi (that connected way faster) and did a CTRTransfer, Updated Luma, and went through the "Finalizing setup" again. Finally, I ran TWLFix-CFW.3dsx and did a system update and it worked.

Glad you fixed. Apparently, wifi is very important on fixing TWL firms/system updates.
