I burned a DVD-R of Tetris Worlds (just a quick game to test if it works) and it's not reading, giving an error "This disc could not be read". Holding □ gives me the ToxicBIOS and holding L1 says it's disabled. New to PS2 modding btw

What is the model number of the console and what chip do you have installed?

You have a clone of a DMS4 modchip, similar to the Mars Pro or M-Chip line of chips.
Since your model of PS2 is a V12(?), it is highly recommended to install a PIC fix to prevent the wear and tear to the laser whilst using burned media.

His model is 77004 which means it's V15.

Pic Fix is not needed in this model

Tried an audio CD. Just says "Disc reading..."

It would likely be dead if anything you insert doesn't get recognised.
I found another post about some ps1/dvd mode. I press twice no cigar.

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
