you should aim for a 200x (2000 series) or 2100 series slim as those are sure fire perm cfw slims though imo a 3000 slim or 4000 super slim is theoreticly safer to be online cause the modding is temporary and less easy to my knowlege for sony to get syscall data and ban your system just make sure your logged out of PSN before you use Hen (iirc i read on another forum spoofing your fw now will trigger an instaban cause the way to detect spoofing or rather how the spoof works was sold to sony via hackerone) activation is no longer required on latest evilnat cfw either so slim is a better choice just keep fan on dynamic control via webman that way it should keep your slim from getting ylod or at least prolong it's life
i wont be using online, i'm buying it for some PS3 games i waned to play, alone, or multiplayer with my
friend in my room.
As for these....
-whats a "fire perm cfw"?
-what is "Hen"?
-I also don't get this: "activation is no longer required on latest evilnat cfw either so slim is a better choice just keep fan on dynamic control via webman that way it should keep your slim from getting ylod or at least
prolong it's life"
What does Activision has to do with overheating a PS3 slim?
Look, i'm completely new at all of this, and you guys toss me terminology like i already own and used a PS3's
and hacked them in the past. I never had ANY contact with the console, this will literally be my first one i seen and played and buying.
Plus, English is not my main language...but i try.
Anyway, so i should look for 2000 series slims, they are the best, is that what you wanted basically to say
here, correct?
-----------------------------------------------
The slim has nec/tokin capacitors which means it's just as prone to ylod as the phats.
The super slim on the other hand has tantalum capacitors and as an added bonus has no ihs on the rsx.
So slim can die of overheating?
-What does a PS3 need to do in order to overheat it self, or what do i need to do apart from
regular usage to make it overheat and get that YLOD?
When i read this i have impression that PS3's are just dying in massive scale from YLOD...
-Also Whats: "nec/tokin capacitors" and "Titanium capacitors"??
-And what's: "ihs, rsx"??
I swear to god, i don't get any of these terms, they just make me more confused.
So....slims are just as bad as
phat are, and
super slim is what i should get?
-----------------------------------------------
you'd need an early system to play ps2 from disc. Those are unreliable unless you fix them. The slim isn't
loud at all, it's just you can hear the fan when it's quiet (can't hear it at all with my super-slim unless you put
your ear to it). Not all ps3s come with a hard drive. The 12GB super slims don't come with an HDD or a
mounting bracket. you'll have to buy those separately if you get one.
Hard drive is what i'm least concerned about, if i can get one from PC store, right?
I can just by any PC HDD or SDD?
As for PS2... I don't care that much about playing PS2 games anyway, they can be emulated right?
But if not, ill be fine, i have PS2 slim for PS2 games anyway!
I'm also not super eager on having RetroArch on it, it's just what i would normally do on consoles, and what would be a bonus, but it's not a "must have" on PS3. That's NOT why i want PS3 anyway.
I'm more concerned about getting a
reliable and quality system that can
play ps3 games from HDD or Discs
and be
quiet, and
NOT to get that YLOD thing or overheat.
Also, i can copy legit PS3 games to a consoles HDD right?
That YLOD is what i'm most concerned now tbh... overheating is causing that, right?
Jokey_Carrot said super slim has some "titanium capacitors" and regular Slim's are prone to YLOD just as PHAT's are?
