hot take of the day

the 'denuvo switch' thing is overblown as fuck. it's almost a non-issue in practice

it's not denuvo. it's not the same thing as pc denuvo. it's anti-emulator protection, made by denuvo. it figures out if you're using an emulator and prevents you from running the game, that's it. nintendo isn't even involved, this is a third party solution. it's worth noting they make very clear in their own press release that this is intended for multiplatform games that're protected by denuvo on pc that'd just get their switch version emulated.

the truncated thread title on the frontpage is wildly inaccurate, again it's not 'denuvo on switch'
i understand to make it accurate would be a bit lengthy, and it wouldn't get your average nintendo hateclicks, so it won't change. sucks but it is what it is

on a more positive note, you know what though? it will get cracked on whatever titles it shows up on. nintendo homebrewers / emulation developers are incredibly on top of things.
and you know what this shit does? basically pinpoints emulator inaccuracies. so that means not only will it probably be easily cracked, but that emulation is gonna become more accurate to the console because of it.
fuck, that's pretty funny tbh, denuvo helping piracy. lmfao

Comments

honestly I bet sega paid them to do this for sonic frontiers or something. sega fucking loves denuvo.

i'd expect an absolutely tiny number of games to actually use it tbh
