Wedding Dress?!

Wedding Dress? Go away and f… yourself!

Sometimes I wonder if I am stupid or if the others are. Usually it is me. But in some instances I can’t believe that my stance on things is the dumb one. Some examples convince me other people have to recalibrate.
Against my will I have noticed my mother is sometimes watching strange shows on classic TV. These scripted “reality” nonsense… where you can’t say if it is just a very bad script or if real people’s attitude and behavior are shown – or a mix of both.

The particular show (I won’t name it), is about women choosing their wedding dress (and family and friends go with them). Deadly serious they seem… and spent hours over hours. Describe what they want, what they don’t want. Try on this. Try on that. Worst part: These dresses sometimes cost more than 3000€. I could buy an upper class super bicycle with electric motor assistance for that. A bike that will last 20 years. And that is just the money for the bride’s dress for a single day. I'll choose the bike!

How much is the whole wedding gonna cost? Can’t you save that money and invest it in fixed-interest securities for your children?

I don’t get it. This makes no sense. Even for the usual “This is such an important day in my life!”. Will they get tarted up like that for the almost inevitable, even more expensive divorce as well? →:creep:

Geez. The fictional Betazoid from Star Trek: The Next Generation are a lot more clever!→:creep::creep::creep:

It all boils down to priorities. Your priorities are down to earth. Their priorities are set on a trivial dress that will only be used one day. But to them, it's not trivial. Besides, people can do whatever they choose with their money. Some people would buy a BMW when they could easily get the same result, drive from one location to another, in a Toyota. As for the TV show your mother is watching, that's just entertainment. People can spend their free time however they want. I wouldn't watch 80% of the crap on TV, but that's just me. To each their own. You said "against your will"? I hope you're not controlling what your mother is watching on TV. She's not a kid anymore, you know.

Don't take my rants to seriously. I let off some steam and that's it.
This entry is even in the nonsense blog category.

I could feel offended by this interpretation… but →:rofl2:
I noticed these shows against my will. I would have preferred to not see/hear/notice that since it causes a headache thinking about such shows.
Right now I'm sitting at my laptop and can hear the TV blathering nonsense from the next room. I'm not deaf.

Besides: She fully agrees with me and watches these shows facepalming half of the time.

Besides, people can do whatever they choose with their money. […] People can spend their free time however they want.
Captain Obvious will be proud of this finding. I'm also allowed to smash everything I own to pieces if I want to. Does it make sense to do it?

Did you know I can choose to criticize whatever I want?
It all boils down to priorities.
Like questionable priorities that can be criticized with factual arguments.

My now ex made me watch those kind of shows too. Once saw an episode where a woman wanted two dresses and I believe a ring costing nearly 50.000-60.000 dollars. And she said like a spoiled gold digger "then he will just have to take a second or third job to pay for it!!!!!". If these shows are any where near real....these woman are delusional and need mental health care!

So, compared to that number....3000 is not "that" expensive. But I also remember a more realistic woman that was perfectly happy with a dress costing something like 600-800 dollars.

Geez. The fictional Betazoid from Star Trek: The Next Generation are a lot more clever!
hahahahaah, it's an "easy laundry day" for them I guess! :D

I would've done the same. The thing is most people that value these things are superficial and shallow, so they tend to go for expensive things to make themselves feel valued and respected by their peers etc. One doesn't seek such things if he's content on the inside. Oh, and excuses like "of course you got to get the shiny expensive thing, cause it's for the important day of your life!!" are just complete BS.
