How to transfer your MHXX 3DS save to MHGU on Switch

Preparation:

- Get MHGU save editor: https://gbatemp.net/threads/mhgu-save-editor.515460/
(only use the attachment from that post to convert, I tried a newer, less buggy version by iSharingan https://github.com/iSharingan/MHXXSwitchSaveEditor/releases but it seem having trouble recognizing MHGU save when I choosing the MHGU save to convert):

- MHXX save slots transfer, blank MHGU save with & without DLCs, blank MHXX save without DLCs,... (I included all of them under this post)

- Your 3DS MHXX save file

- And of course Checkpoint/JKSV - whatever app to backup/restore your saves on Switch and 3DS

- (Optional) HxD hex editor and MHGU save with DLCs to implement DLCs back after conversion.

First off, clean the MHXX DLCs from your save using MHXX save slot transfer:

- Click 'Open save 1', select your save then 'open save 2', select a MHXX clean save (attached under this post), this will move your save slot to this MHXX blank save.

Just in case - clean your item box and equipment box before converting:

- Clean equipment box: Should manually sell/delete those Japanese MHXX exclusives equipment yourself, especially un-stransmog them so your equipments and builds saved won't mess up.

- Backup your item box to a .itemXX file using save editor: Load your save, choose Edit>Item Box>Export to>... name your backup.

- Clean item box by Edit>Item Box>Remove All Items.

Save it. Now your file is ready for conversion.

- Select Convert>To Switch>... to convert it to MHGU - in this step you'll need to select the blank MHGU save to convert to.
If it announced "You're now editing switch version of this save", you're good, ignore the [Loading your save file..] box, click SAVE and restart the application.

Finally, load the newly convert MHGU save, import your item box back and those exclusive MHXX items should only get turned into DUMMY which you can sell, delete manually in-game

[Optional] Import DLCs back manually (for those who are banned or don't want risking a ban by connecting to internet on CFW). (Why didn't I just convert MHXX to MHGU using the MHGU save with DLCs? well all DLCs got wiped after conversion)

Follow the method from this thread: https://gbatemp.net/threads/clean-mhgu-save-with-full-dlc-mhg-transfer-bonus.543438/post-8860039
Basically you're copying the raw data of your character to a save that already have DLCs, replacing a dummy character in it

IMPORTANT, if you just done conversion, don't use the save file for this just yet, you have to get in-game and load your character once, save game, then back up that save -> this is the file you'll use to import DLC.

Simple instructions (using my MHGU with DLC file I attached, it's already created a dummy char named NEW HUNTER):

- Use HxD to open your MHGU save with character you want to transfer, Ctrl+F find your char name, Ctrl+E to select block, tick on "length" and enter 11D088.

Copy it.

- Open MHGU save with DLC, but search for NEW HUNTER, select block length = 11D088, paste and SAVE.

Update: Alternative method to inject DLC: https://gbatemp.net/threads/monster-hunter-generation-ultimate-mhgu-dlc-injector.580290/
With this I recommend use the clean save with DLC from https://gbatemp.net/threads/clean-mhgu-save-with-full-dlc-mhg-transfer-bonus.543438/ or just use save editor to delete the dummy character from the my clean DLCs save.
Haven't fully tested myself but it seem working

@Xdqwerty there is health behaviour you can add to your character, then to use a health bar is lil more complicated, google n watch a few tutorial video on it, be too hard to explain here.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the character has the health behavior
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I know you have to create a health and health max variable. Then there is a calculation you use in code to subtract width size of the health bar. Google few vids.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the "greenflatbar" is one of the preset health bars btw
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you can use any bar/sprite. It will just change the width. Ok good luck and have fun. I'm off to go shoot some pool at the bar. Talk to you later.
