Dropping out of a track and helicopter tries to put you back on track, my youngest daughter managed to have following issue twice:

Drop out of track, helicopter in a loop of putting back on track but failing resulting in loop that race can’t end

EUR version 4.2 maybe too high (only just started mk8u recently after always having this version and hence it loaded I thought all was fine) so now I’m doubting if v4.2, incl eur update and dlc installed, is already too high ?

Ps tried with us version but it doesn’t even load so still on EUR for now
PS2 looked through topic searched but no avail of this found yet
That will be an issue with whoever created that particular track.

US version is only version I've ever used and it works great for me. Not sure your issues there, but I'm glad you can get Eur to work for ya though.

Only the creator can fix this? Easy to find?

Thx, one more question though regarding the version. If the mk8 version is too high (>v64) your mod simply wouldn’t work ? Cause I’m trying to get it closest to fully working to be sure there’s no issue from my part.

Only thing I know is the version I see on splash screen which is 4.2. Other than that I don’t know what update my version is which is installed aside from a dlc for it. Have it from the start when helper still worked few years back

Custom tracks came from GameBanana, you can look around there for the track and see if the creator for that track is still active or not. Or maybe look around for people that mod Mario Kart 8 tracks in general and see if any of them would be willing to take a look at the programming of that course for you.

Yes, you must have the second to latest version of MK8, if you have the latest update (the one that fixed an online vulnerability), it will not work.

Do you think the mod (or similar ones) will ever find a way to work on the latest version? Is there just no hope or is it a case of finding a different method to get it to work?

Don't know. Your best course is to just downgrade your copy of Mario Kart 8 to the previous version. I've never had to do it, but I've read somewhere on these boards that there is a way and an explanation of how to do it. Look around for that and follow what it says would be my advice.

Should be as simple as going into the system settings -> data management and deleting the update:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/downgrade-updates-on-wii-u-games.466343/
That will delete all update data for the game, they'll still have to download and install the specific update from the likes of USB Helper if that is still functional. Though reading through that thread, it's looking like you need to do more than that even, it may require some hex editing of files so that the system doesn't recognize a minimum version number. I remember seeing the proper directions somewhere to do this and it did look a bit convoluted, but it is possible

You can downgrade through three ways (as far as I know). The first and most simple way is to install the game from another region.

For anyone who wonders why u can't just install the older version with the help of homebrew. Well you can install it without problems but the wii u remembers the highest version of the update that was installed and is going to prevent Mario Kart 8 from starting.

The second and most complex way is to use a hex editor and modify the version.bin file in the system storage. This is the file we're the information of the updates is saved. Let's say you had once the v81 update of MK8 installed but installed afterwards v64 via hombrew.

The version.bin file remembers the information of the highest version and orders you to update the game without the option to start it.
This is the most dangerous way of doing it because this file does not only contain the information for game updates but also for system apps like settings, the Home menu and so on. You can brick your Console if you mess this up. This method has no advantages over the first.

The third option which I used and also explained to others is to manipulate the update in the wiius internal storage with an ftp server. I have already explained this method previously on this forum.

This method has one key advantage over the others. The wii u won't update it if you are connected to the internet because it things that it has already the v81 update installed.

You don't need any special tools for the last option (no hexeditor)

Are there any updates still planned for this mod or is it finished?
